El Cordova is a historical type of hotel with lovely Spanish touches in the room I stayed in (#5) - Spanish tiles in the bathroom also a small kitchen area with a stove, microwave, and a refrigerator. I was also surprised that this room had a small living room in addition to the bedroom. Truly the hotel makes walking easy to Coronado beach as well as all of the stores and restaurants. Previous reviews noted that the Mexican restaurant can be very "noisy" - there was some noise, however, not bad enough to keep me awake. I was surprised that the hotel did not have an elevator; several steps to get to your room. The clerk was very kind to assist me with getting my luggage in and out of the room has I have some "issues" with one of my knees. All, in all - I liked my room and would stay there again.

We checked in and found out the AC was a window type, not centralized. Worse, it wasn't working so our unit was hot as an oven. We asked to be moved to another room, and we were moved to a much smaller room but found out we were charged the same as the apartment we booked into. The room the moved us into was so cramped, bathroom so small that when you sit in the toilet bowl the sink is right in your face. Good location but does not fit the description of a hotel. Also, management should warn potential guests of street parking.

I am a very easy to please person, and honestly this place overall wasn't bad. I don't think it is worth the money, in the end i kind of wish i just paid a little extra to stay at the Coronado.
Pro's:
Good location: minute walk from the beach. Right on a street with a lot of shops and places to eat. 10 minute walk from a grocrie store.
relatively clean. The place is a little dated so things are old and not perfect, but generally cleanliness i would give a 4 out of 5. No roaches or bed bugs, nothing where i went wow that's gross.
Cute Mexican atmosphere, it really is a cute little place to stay, the back of the hotel is like a little Mexican city.

HOT! This is the soul reason why it only got 3 stars. my room was 90 degrees when i arrived, after turning on the fans and trying to get the air conditioner going it would get as low as 85 degrees, i gave up and opened all the windows, because we were all dying. Even then during the day we could only get it down to 85 it was cooler outside in the sun then in that room, the nights were nice and cool though, and i come from a place that hits 95+ degrees everyday 6 months out of the year so i'm not just being a boob. It was hot and there was no escaping the heat. I was in a suite on the top floor at the edge of the building so maybe that room gets way less air then everyone else, but the air conditioning system, just looked like it was 20+ years old and probably didn't work that well in any of the rooms.
Dated: the hotel looks like its made out of old apartments, but most places to stay on that island are dated, didn't really bug me, but i could see it bugging some people.

We have enjoyed numerous stays at the El Cordova. The room we had this trip had some cleanliness issues including grungy bath floors & dirt build up on baseboards. The only towel bar was broken. They need to take room 118 out of service for a deep clean.

I live in San Diego and always wanted to stay here abd I finally booked two nights.
I knew parking would be an issue and the staff texted me and told me parking was available for a nominal fee in the day I arrived.
I get there; no parking was available. If you know Coronado, all street parking is 2 - 4 hours only immediately around the hotel. I knew this and was assured they had parking available, when I arrived, they didn't.
I paid $80 to park across the street until 11pm then moved my car to a residential street a mile away to avoid more charges. Staff made no attempt to mitigate to relieve the situation.
The TV in the room apparently had no internet or cable connectivity so there was no TV available for out stay.
The racket made sleeping impossible to sleep on our second night, it sounded like someone was pressure washing a metal surface below us at 1:00am. Perhaps this might have been scheduled more appropriately for guests?

Property is beautiful with lots of shops all around with plenty of dining options all in walking distance. Highly recommended eating at Miguel’s as they have amazing food and drinks.

Be careful with this place. Their so called guest parking is a BofA parking structure two blocks away, and they don’t control capacity of dedicated spaces for paying guests. We arrived at hotel (nice enough for price), and were told that they didn’t have available parking. Unfortunately was the repeated word.

They make you pay a courtesy fee, even if you don’t use the amenities. No parking except for a small parking structure where other people take the parking.

This property surprised us. Clean, well-managed, and very well situated hotel across the street from the Hotel del Coronado. The room was spacious, clean, and had a small kitchen, which made our day! It is an old property lacking some accessibility options. The wi-fi is also very spotty, necessitating and room change. Otherwise, this was a very nice property we would stay at again.
