This place was super hard to find, and the front desk says 24 hours, but it is not. We slept in our car on the street the first night because we didn’t arrive until 2 am, so that was not pleasant. The rooms themselves are very small and have old appliances in them. They were clean however, and the front door is locked at all times; only able to access it using your keycard. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The website says no children allowed, but we brought our 3 year old with no problems. Overall a decent stay for the price.

For the price of the hotel, the location is very convenient as it is located between the intersection of North Beach and Chinatown, making it very accessible to nearby attractions. However, there was no AC in the hotel, and it was really difficult for me to even sleep at night due to the heat. I was told that it would be a room with a window, but the window only opened to a closed wall. When going into the building, you will be greeted with a weird smell from the staircases. Overall, if you are on a budget, you can maybe try this place when the weather is cooler, but other than that, it is not really worth it.

My experience was horrible. I had to share a bathroom, there was no parking, and it was dirty. I couldn't stay there; I had to find somewhere else right away.

This is my go to when I stay in the city. Reason, its located on Columbus & Broadway St. Thats the base of North Beach which is also my favorite place. You have Washington Square, little Italy, food, food, food and not to mention clubs. Great place and HIGHLY recommend for the price you can't beat in San Francisco.. And as far as safety SFPD has main sub station near buy so crime is very, very low if any during day and night they have foot patrols which makes a very safe environment

You get what you pay for - for 69$ a night (via booking.com) this is reasonable but couple of things that you need to keep in mind:

1) When you enter the hotel stair, it smells like old onions in the staircase (further up it's good)
2) When you enter the room, it smells like urine (there is a sink in the room so I am afraid previous guests used it as a toilet). After six days of opened windows this got better and this might differ from room to room
3) The rooms don't look like the pictures (on booking) at all, mine had black/grey walls
4) There are just two loose sheets around the blanket so it easily gets out of place and you have direct contact with the blanket - which feels itchy (not sure when the blanket itself was washed the last time and it had little holes in it)
5) When somebody closes the door next to you, you feel the vibration in your room

Note: If you book a room with shared bathroom you will be placed towards the street side. It wasn't as noisy as other reviews have mentioned (between Sunday and Thursday night quite ok, Friday night was a bit noisier), but I also used earplugs to be on the safe side. Nobody cleaned my room throughout a six nights stay but for the price that's what is expected.

Good things: receptionist was polite, bathrooms felt very clean (apart from a sink one day where somebody shaved and left all the hairs, but that's on the guests), location is great and it's cheap.

If you don't have high standards it's great to save money, if you expect more comfort from a hotel I recommend to pay up.

The location is convenient, with bus route 8 right outside, making it easy to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks. It's about a 20-minute walk to Pier 7 by the sea. Fisherman's Wharf and Union Square are also within easy walking distance.

THIRD-PARTY BOOKING
I booked Europa through my credit card portal to accumulate/maximize points. Europa's front desk could retrieve my reservation so there were no problems there.

PRICING
For late Oct of 2025, we paid $95/night for One Bed Private Room en suite Bathroom. I can't recall the prices of the dorms, but they would definitely be cheaper. The price is considered fair given its location.

QUALITY OF STAY
1- Note there are stairs you'd take to get to the front desk. These carpeted stairs are curving inward and from my standards, would need a lot of maintenance.
2- I was also upset the coffee station was going through renovation. I do agree with the other reviews, that this lodging is in fact an inn, not a hostel (there are no community rooms). Alternatively, I was OK with grabbing hot chocolate offered by neighboring businesses..

3- My sister could hear voices from the other rooms from our Private Room. She did not sleep well, but I could sleep fine (thanks to earplugs). I appreciated the use of blackout curtains.
4- you would have to ask for a hair dryer from the Front Desk.

5- the shower stalls (yes, even in the Private Rooms) are pretty tight. If I rotate I might have bumped against a few things..
6- the Front Desk person in the morning was the nicest. We could come at 1-2pm and drop off our luggage. yay!

**For reference, I have stayed at 2-3 different hostels in Ireland; one in Nob Hill/SF, and a low-budget hostel in Bali before. This hostel ranks at the second bottom of these, but the customer service here is OK/good.

SETTLED ON BROADWAY BETWEEN LITTLE ITALY & CHINA. THEY WERE RECONSTRUCTING THE PLA E SO IT WAS UNDERSTANDABLE. THE PLUMBING WAS AFFECTED IN MY ROOM.

I recommend it for a short stay, it's not very clean, the location is good, the structure is so-so.

This is a very well located hotel in San Francisco, but the rooms are very average, old and shabby. All I can say is that it cannot be evaluated according to Asian hotel standards.

The hotel is in a great location, right in the heart of San Francisco, making it very convenient to go anywhere.

The boss here is Indian and has some difficulty speaking.

One of my favorite restaurants in North Beach. Garlic is in absolutely everything and in vast amounts, so don't go if you don't like garlic. It's cozy and inviting, but always busy, so make reservations. They don't accommodate big parties easily, though it is possible (just a tight fit).

Absolutely fantastic. Cheaper than we thought it would be. Great food! See if you can get seated in the outdoor patio, we had a wonderful experience but depends on the people you're sharing it with. The covered booths are nice too if you want a private intimate dinner.

All the garlic you could ever want. Decent food but quite expensive for what you get. Drinks were good sized strong for the price. We went for my dad's birthday and dinner for 3 adults and 2 kids was $275. 1 app and 5 entrees. Again quite pricey for what is not a fine dining restaurant. The staff was friendly and we were seated promptly but you pay for the quirky well known restaurant experience.

Do you love garlic? This place is for you! My hubby and I ordered from the prix fixe menu and had the spaghetti and meatballs. We started with the additional simmered garlic appetizer as suggested by our waiter. We then followed with a Cesar salad that was quite good. The main course was good. Meatballs in a garlic meat sauce on al dente spaghetti was average. It wasn't bad, it just seemed to be run of the mill, other than the dozens of garlic cloves (note...I didn't actually count them). The portion on the prix fixe menu are smaller than the regular portions, but were more than enough for me. If we hadn't been flying out the same night, we would have had enough leftovers between the two of us for a nice late night snack.

Given all the choices in the area, not sure I would go back. It was a fun experience, but it is a theme based chain restaurant and it has some of the inherent flaws that come with that business model.

Nothing special here. We went for lunch and I had the prime rib, it wasn't bad, but again nothing special. My wife had a salad that was pretty sad looking. Friends from home said I had to go here and I question why. Nothing I saw with the garlic is really all that creative, they just throw it on top of everything. Ambiance is average, the room in back is cool but I guess they don't sit people there until dinner. Service was fine. I would skip it and eat at one of the other hundreds of amazing restaurants in SF though.

Restroom attendant twice told me to “keep it moving” and to “hurry up” while I used the bathroom in the stall. After the 2nd command, I responded that I was using the bathroom and I’d be out when I was done. He told me that I wasn’t and admitted he looked into the stall and saw I was texting. An argument ensued and I should have reported the incident to management, but very skeptical anything would have been done anyways. Never had such an experience where I’ve been spied on/watched in a private restroom.

Always amazing pizzas. The classic Margherita is right at the top. Their other gourmet pizzas are unique and delicious as well. The one with pineapple topping (don't remember the name) offers a unique sweet and hot taste and I loved it. Definite a must visit if you are in San Francisco and remotely like pizzas. You will be a fan.
29.12.2017 Mackenzie
The pizza is great, particularly when you go to the restaurant. However there have been several deliveries where the order is incorrect (missing toppings that cost extra). This is very disappointing given the pizza is expensive to begin with and the wait times are long for delivery resulting in an often slightly cold pizza.

Again, the pizza is great, and is why I've gone back many times, but the service is extremely rude. Not in the "part of the character and establishment charm" manner, but in an abrasive and off-putting manner. It leaves you feeling like you are bothering them for putting your name on the wait list. Additionally, after holding for 10 minutes to place a pick-up order, the person who answered was very short and impatient and hung up when my service cut out briefly without giving me a chance to find a better spot with service. Hold time was 10 minutes, conversation with an actual human under 30 seconds. I love their pizza, but their personnel and poor service really makes you question why you're paying them so much.

They should keep Vegetarian pizzas in real sense. They call existing pizzas vegetarian because it doesn't have any non veg topping. But surprisingly they don't have options for topping of different vegetables.
For Vegetarian people they should keep options of Fresh Tomatoes, Red,Green, Yellow Peppers, Mushrooms, Olives, Fresh Onions etc.
I would never go there to eat Vegetarian pizzas. It is not at all worth spending $25 for a midium size pizza without any kind of vegetables on it.
Only God can save those people who go there to eat veg pizza.
30.11.2017 Doug
Let me tell you this is the best pizza in the bay area. I have ate here multiple times. I would recommend trying the Americana pizza. It is loaded with meat and veggies. You won't be disappointed by the large selection of different pizzas. They use coal, wood, and conventional ovens depending on the type of pizza. I would also try the green beans as an appetizer.

Bad dinning experience at Tony Pizza. The hostess name FAINA was rude to our party. We had a group of 9 people with small children and requested to be seated close by or adjacent so we can have a nice family meal. With that said, the hostess FAINA decided to separate our family by seating one family outside and one inside. We repeatedly request the hostess FAINA if we can be seated close together since there were plenty of empty tables nearby. FAINA refused to change and said you guys can leave. I was extremely disappointed with her reply since we love the place and its food so much. I write this review in hoping Tony Management can take immediately actions to correct its employee issues especially the hostess name FAINA. Simply put she was rude and unfriendly with guest. Her behavior is unacceptable in this mordern day of corporate standard. I hope Tony Management take appropriate actions to mitigate your well established brand name with public image. Hate to see Tony gets smear by an individual employee. Sincerely ?
