The DeSoto in Savannah

This hotel has a great location and a fantastic lobby. All the staff that we encountered were very friendly and mostly helpful. Unfortunately, our room was not the best. The rooms need updating and do not live up to the descriptions or the fantastic lobby. The bathrooms were very dated and were clean enough but not as clean as I would have expected. I also found it odd that there was not a mini fridge in the room. This hotel has great potential, it just seemed to be lacking in the details that would make it stellar. In addition, we left a day early and the lobby informed us that they could not provide any sort of refund which we thought was very odd.

I paid over 1700 RMB per night to Ctrip, which should be considered a high-end hotel, but I was disappointed with the bathroom facilities after checking in (see picture). Furthermore, the room rate included breakfast, and I specifically confirmed this with the front desk at check-in, but the next morning when I went to the restaurant, I was told that breakfast was à la carte, and I had to go back to the front desk to get a voucher, which was only $15 per person. Adding juice, dessert, coffee, or tea would cost extra...

Great hotel with a wonderful staff. We went for our 17th anniversary and we're upgraded to a suite l. We were also given a drink voucher for the Proof and Provision hotel bar. The bartender was fantastic and made some great drinks!
Being right in the middle of downtown Savannah made our informal restaurant tour very easy and fun.
We will definitely be back.

Great location, walking to anywhere. You do not need the $45 per day valet because large parking garage is block away from building. Nice food and drink inside, plus walking distance from restaurants and bars. Nice safe feeling area. Super small balcony.

Good morning g to the manager. We have never stayed as of sleeping at the hotel. Each time we visited, it was for business or training. We have enjoyed the atmosphere and food on those times. The hotel is beautiful and luxurious. But this time, it was for the Candlelight Hip Hop event. Maybe one day we will get the chance to stay a weekend, and then I can give you that review on the stay.

My first impression was with the valet, which was not amazing. I arrived early & wanted to park my car, but he said he couldn’t drive a stick shift, & I couldn’t park my car myself or check it in early… for $45/night?! He wouldn’t even let me leave my car in the valet area to check in. So I found a random street to park on & then went to check in. Alexis saved the whole experience. She was friendly, professional, gave me suggestions for parking my car that wouldn’t be overly expensive, helped me to relocate to another fabulous room when my neighbors’ dogs were barking uncontrollably, she even sent me multiple texts checking in… Alexis is 5 star quality in customer service & the reason I will stay at the DeSoto the next time I come to Savannah… though I will never valet my car. Also, I read reviews about the rooms being musty smelling & dirty, but this was not my experience. My room was perfect, big king bed, lots of room, clean & a beautiful balcony with chairs overlooking the city thanks to Alexis. I couldn’t have been more comfortable. Oh & pillows.. . they are real pillow with real stuffing to support your head & neck. The bed is a dream!

The air conditioning is not good and quite noisy.

The location is very good. Although it is an old hotel, the service and quality are still good. Recommended, cost-effective in the local high!
