Congress Plaza Hotel, Chicago1 / 28
7.7
Chicago, 520 South Michigan Avenue (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
This is my third time staying here. All three times I've had different style of rooms. All of which is beautiful. The hotel doesn't offer much as far as breakfast, staff does their job but not much more but that's ok. The real charm of this is the architecture, history and the spirits. Place really is like no other. Kinda cool really.
We stayed for three nights at the Congress Plaza Hotel. Overall, it was a nice stay — our room faced the lake and was surprisingly large for a city hotel. The newer floors and furniture gave it a refreshed feel. A few notes: there’s no central AC or heat. There’s a small air unit near the window, but it only circulates air rather than heating or cooling it. We visited in early November (temps around...
I enjoyed everything about this historic hotel. Lady at front desk was friendly, funny, and helpful. Shared info about the supposed haunted room in one of the many wings of this huge hotel. Lobby was gorgeous and even had a pool table. Stayed in the South Wing. Room seemed to have been recently updated, with comfy beds. Although it was a bit smaller the ceilings were extremely high giving it a more...
Pretty good location and a classic hotel. Being classic it's also dated. Nice view of the park, and quite clean, but not the best room to do work in all day. Easy walk to the art institute. No AC, pay for refrigerator, free WiFi one day only. Great lobby though, there were people doing a photo shoot on the couches for an album, I can see why!
I thought this place was nice. Staff was nice, plaza was nice, room was a little rough though. Cracks in wall and ceiling. I understand it’s an older building but rooms could use some work. But the great rate we got on the room made up for the small defects.
The hotel has a very charming old feel to it. We got a lake side view room, and the view out the window is great, especially at sunrise! The place is clean and the bed is comfortable. Staff interactions have all been pleasant. Would definitely stay here again!
Bathroom was surprisingly nice and updated compared to the rest of the room. Very nice.
Great location with a beautiful view of the lake. Very nice room with a comfortable bed and they even provided complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste. Very nice staff at the front desk that let us upgrade our room to a lake view and check in early for a very small fee.
Price is very good. The hotel is in the very center of the city, it is very convenient.

Hotel was pretty good. A few little annoyances, but these were made up for by the great location; right on the river with incredible views from the windows. It’s a bit of a mission to get to the rooms (up one elevator through the restaurant to another set of lifts and up again). Despite the 3 elevators from the ground floor up to the 15th reception, they took ages. It’s as if only one of the worked...
room was spacious , overall hotel is great tp stay. breakfast was good. just that need to take multiple lift to reach the hotel.
It was not a comfortable stay especially due to noisy AC, staff is supportive but all room have the same issue.
The hotel's 15th-floor reception hall is super tall and large, the rooms are spacious and bright, the bedding is skin-friendly, soft and comfortable, and from the window you can overlook the five iron bridges across the Chicago River and the buildings on both sides that are full of stories, and get a glimpse of the majesty of this century-old industrial city... The only drawback is that the water output...
no water kettle, terrible attitude by front desk receptionist carlton. breakfast was okay but waiters were slow and inattentive
Location is good with a beautiful view. Just a heads up bring your own slipper and dental kit and drinking water because they don’t have complimentary of such. Overall we had a great sleep and we enjoyed our stay.

I had a wonderful stay at the Courtyard in Chicago! The hotel was spotless, the location was perfect, and the overall experience was top-notch. A very special thank you to Tabitha, who went above and beyond to take care of us during our visit. She made me feel like family — warm, welcoming, and truly attentive to every detail. It’s rare to find that level of genuine hospitality, and it made all the...
I wanted to give 5 stars for the service received by Latonya!! She made a not so great experience feel much better by her energy, warmness and overall excellent customer service. On the other end, the rooms were just okay, but the smell of them was horrific. They had a sewage smell to them and I was later made aware that there was some issue going on with the water. The other disappointment was in...
I have nothing but good thing to say about this hotel. Excellent service, location and facilities. The pool and surrounding areas were always clean. The rooms were cleaned daily by an excellent staff. Front desk people, doorman and security all great. Chek-in and out was a breeze. Walking distance to the River Walk, Millennium Park, Navy Pier and others are fairly close. Red Line train station only...
It's a bit noisy outside. Some of the waiters in the restaurant are very nice, but some are not so nice.
Very good, very unexpected, this price can live in such a big room. Trump is a few steps away from the hotel, and there is also a Dunkin Donut next to it.
Location is excellent and bed is comfortable. The swimming pool was a disappointment though - chlorine smell was too strong and stings the eyes.

I stayed at the hotel for two nights and three days in late December 2025. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The heating system in my room was extremely loud, making it difficult to sleep. During my entire stay, there was no housekeeping service or towel replacement, which was very inconvenient. The building also feels quite old; even the elevator rattled whenever it moved...
I could overlook the minor inconveniences, such as the poor service and occasional rudeness of a receptionist, but two major issues made my stay uncomfortable. First, my room was extremely dark as it faced an interior courtyard with little natural light. Second, there was pet fur everywhere, which was especially problematic since I have allergies. I did not see any prior warning that these rooms allowed...
Our room on the 8th was spotless and well-kept. Location was perfect for easy access to the Lyric Opera Theatre. Our only complaint was the breakfast. Plan on bringing your own or eating elsewhere.
Breakfast without eggs, bacon and cheese, 😩😩😩
It is near the bus stop, convenient to travel, breakfast is ok, room is clean.
There is a refrigerator, microwave, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hair dryer. The shower head is fixed to the wall. The location was good. I recommend it.

The breakfast was varied and the atmosphere was casual and nice.
This is a wonderful, clean hotel with friendly staff. We stayed 4 nights and this location is perfect for being a walking tourist and you can easily use the bus and train here as well. We usually choose a hotel with breakfast for convenience and this breakfast was wonderful. We had an excellent stay at Hyatt. Room service was great; they kept the room clean when we were out, neatly folded my clothes, and quickly fixed the window curtains. Also had a great breakfast. The food selection was superb. Santosi assisted us during it. She was a joy to talk to.
I booked a King bed, but as a Hyatt member I was upgraded to Double Queen bed with a view. I will book again at this hotel in the future. See below Pros: The rooms are updated with sufficient lighting in the bathroom. The mattress and pillows are comfortable. I appreciated the addition of a closet with a light inside. Location was great but breakfast was not the best.
A wonderful hotel, located in the city center. The beach is a 5-minute walk away, which is important to me. The hotel staff was friendly. The room was very beautiful, clean, and equipped with all the amenities. The breakfast was delicious and varied. The view from the windows was amazing; I admired the city at night. I would happily stay at the hotel again on my next trip.
Great hotel, service and great all you can eat breakfast
I have stayed here many times. The location is wonderful. Streeterville is a favorite of mine. The staff are truly helpful and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. I will be returning.
Guys, you basically get what you pay. The hotel is old but it is clean and safe. Very happy with my stay.

Perfect. If you want to come to chicago, but don't want to stay too far out.But you don't want to be in the mix of the heavy traffic. I realized spacious rooms. They have their own parking lot.So you don't have to worry about paying for parking close to soldier, feel and literally fourteen minutes on the bus to get to the loop.
I like the staff because they made it feel like home. Called the room to check on us to make sure we had the proper accommodations. The staff is so welcoming. It was almost to good to be true. The manager went above and beyond to make sure our booking got straightened out because there was a booking error. Last, the bed was so comfortable. I melted into the sheets like butter. This hotel is on its last leg. If you’re looking for a place to just rest your head at night, it does the job. It’s one of those places that if you touch it wrong it’s gonna break. No complaints about staff, they were kind from the little interactions we had. You can tell the hotel is just old and they’re no longer putting money into fixing things. It’s just being barely maintained. We had two key...
I was in town for my daughter's orchestra concert at DePaul. This hotel was in my price range, so I took my chances (the reviews were quite mixed). The hotel is conveniently located near downtown and public transportation. Unfortunately, there is little in the way of restaurants and bars within walking distance. I really liked the hotel, except that the room service didn't come every day, I had to go to reception and ask for cleaning and changing the towels. It was very well located, close to the subway and a bike station nearby, I could do everything on foot, I didn't rent a car, the breakfast was wonderful and plentiful, I really liked it and would go back.
The location is excellent, by the river in the city center, close to various attractions, cost-effective, the decoration is relatively new, and the service response is very fast. Located in a very clean, well-lit, safe feeling area. Clean rooms, great service and staff, and a great breakfast to start the day. Located by many food options, a 9min walk to The Bean and 12 min walk to Willis Tower.
This hotel was located in a perfect spot. The hotel itself was beautiful. The service was great. The breakfast wasn’t amazing but it’s also a hotel breakfast so I didn’t expect much.
Our room was quite spacious and comfortable. Only a few rooms on each floor and it was SOOO quiet!!! We stayed two nights and I had the best night sleep I have had in forever. Good location. We were able to walk to Soldier Field comfortably. Highly recommend.
Good staying. Facilities around are very comfortable. Food and stores are very close to hotel. I recommend this hotel!
Great location and clean rooms. Robin made us feel welcomed from the moment we walked in. We called down 2 times for different reasons (more pillows and a blow dryer) and both were handled quickly. Water running?? Really nice hotel, super nice staff and great atmosphere. The only complaint I had was that it sounded like water was running all night long in the room either above me or next to me. Lots of dining options within walking distance. Parking is a little difficult, so we used the valet service (quite pricey). Would definitely stay here again.
The room was in great shape, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was excellent. What more could one want?
It’s a really nice and clean place to stay. We stayed there for one night and it was perfect!
The hotel is close to the subway, making transportation very convenient. It's also near CVS and other restaurants. The hotel breakfast is quite good, with both good taste and variety.
The room is big, but not clean. The towels were not changed on the first day, and there was a woman's long hair on one of the beds. The bathroom towels had human body hair. I didn't want to complain because I was too tired due to jet lag. The next day, I went out early because I had a meeting with a client, but when I came back, I found that the sheets were not changed. The room was clean, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. However, the room heater was limited to a maximum temperature of 74°F and only cycled on briefly every hour or so for a couple minutes. As a result, the room became quite cold at night, and I didn’t sleep very well because of it.
Good location to reach out all science places. Giordano’s deep dish pizza is very near from hotel. Walking 5 mins to Skydeck Chicago building.
The room is moderately sized, and the sanitary environment and facilities are all good. It is very close to the train station. There is a famous chain pizza restaurant at the door of the hotel. It is also a ten-minute walk from several famous attractions such as the Art Museum and Millennium Park. You can also walk along the riverside trail to enjoy the scenery and go shopping at the Luxury Mile.
Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Central Loop located nearby the station. This is super conveniences to getting there. Many coffee shop, convenience stores and restaurants are located surrounding. Gym room is good and this is why I chose Hilton Garden.

Not a bad stay at all. I stayed here with my daughter for a couple days after being discharged from the hospital. It was quiet and comfy. The desk staff were very friendly, as well as the valet team. I will definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel.
No parking, like ain’t no one want to park in the hospital at night and walk the longish walk to the hotel it’s dark where that parking lot is located and also that fact that you have to pay for parking in the lot of the hotel is ridiculous.. like we’re already paying for the night and to an extra for parking.. no sir never going back to that hotel.

The property is a basic small 2-story motel. Nothing unique. The pool-facing rooms are now facing an empty pool, unfortunately. I sleep in dozens of hotels a year, both for work and leisure travel. I seldom leave reviews. But opinions are so split on Selina Chicago that I feel compelled. First, I found it clean throughout. Hotel is in a great location but is in need of a revamp/modernisation. The co-working space and lobby are nice and modern but they do not reflect the room. Beds were clean but the room carpet was a little dirty. Bathroom was old but the water pressure was good. Overall ticks the box to visit downtown but not special in anyway.
