The staff was not very welcoming at all. Never spoke or greeted us throughout the stay.. No "Good morning," "Hello," nothing. They market themselves as a renovated hotel... While the sleeping area of the room was more updated (still looked like the 2000s), the bathroom was something from the 70s- the furnace was located in the bathroom and never could get the room warm (which shouldn't have been a problem for such a small room). Loved the location, but I wouldn't stay there again if it was free.

We booked the hotel because of its location in the city and the advertised amenities for mobile workspace as we’d have to login periodically on vacation. The decor in the lobby was awesome but unfortunately that’s where it ended. The staff was friendly. The rooms were in disrepair - no hot water for 2 days, water damage on the ceiling, lightbulbs missing, and duct tape in various places holding things together. Although the staff was friendly, there was a general lack of care and no on site leadership. The hotel pushes you to download an app for interface - none of the features work. The phone number is disconnected, and the chat feature is disabled. Would not recommend staying at a Selina property given our experience here.

I expected old, run down, and no extras based on the price I booked it for, but this was worse. Number 1, the AC not working would’ve been better, it actually blew hot air. So when I got into the room the thermostat said 80. After turning the ac on, and lowering the temp I waited for it to cool down. Couple minutes later I checked and the thermostat was up to 82. I check the vents and it’s actually blowing hot air. I ended up turning the ac off, putting a roll of toilet paper to keep the window up a little. Ambien was the only reason I was able to sleep.

What a total dissapointment. Right now, we are waiting for some from the front desk to show up to collect our luggage from the storage room, as well as other guests too to be attended. Long wait, but no one at the front desk. We had no cleaning service for the 2 nights that we stayed, slippery bathtubs, so it´s no safe for elder guests and my room had a permanent water dripping sound from the air conditioning system. No nice smiles at the front desk. Never coming back.

I sleep in dozens of hotels a year, both for work and leisure travel. I seldom leave reviews. But opinions are so split on Selina Chicago that I feel compelled. First, I found it clean throughout. The common spaces were fun and quirky-- definitely not cookie cutter. As for the rooms, my room 608 was solid 4 star: great bed, fresh remodel. The only downsides were wall-to-wall carpeting that could use a refresh, and dated bathroom (clean, but with a 1970s style low wide toilet, etc). And a slow shower drain that left you in 3 inches of water after a 5 minute shower. That's always gross. I suspect opinions differ on Selina because it is essentially TWO hotels in one: a hostel and a hotel. These are separated by floor. The second floor has common areas incl small kitchen, "cinema room," meeting room, and bar/lounge area. If you're looking for a hotel (as opposed to a hostel-- I can't speak to that), ignore the negative reviews. This is a clean, charming, non-cookie-cutter 3.5 star hotel in a very convenient location (pro tip: Jeni's ice cream one block away has the BEST ice cream ever). and very reasonably priced for the neighborhood.

This property's poor scores and negative reviews are justified. During my visit on a weekend, I encountered issues upon entering. While the staff, especially the Asian gentleman at the front desk, were hospitable, the overall atmosphere was lacking smiles from guests. My room had a mildew smell, noisy AC, outdated decor, and dirty carpet. I received a room change to a slightly better one, but it still had most of the same issues. Additionally, there was no housekeeping or fridge in the room, despite being a standard private room rate. Unless moved to a renovated room, I won't return.

Unfortunately, the hotel was not up to standards. It is a very old building, and the room we stayed at, was not visually appealing (the pictures online, are not what you’re likely to book). The bathroom is from the 1920’s or older and it was not close to Millenium Park and Grant Park. To make matters worse, we bought and labeled our Trader Joe’s paper bag to keep our food inside the fridge to eat it for breakfast the next day, and it was STOLEN! The owner of this building needs to ultimately renovate the hotel and come up with a better system to not allow for people’s food to be stolen. At least there weren’t any bed bugs lol. That would’ve been a big NO NO for me.

Subject: Unfortunate and Distressing Experience at Selena Hotel, Chicago I'm saddened to share my deeply disappointing experience at Selena Hotel, Chicago. Over a week's stay, I paid over $1,500 and was consistently met with unprofessional behavior and felt a sense of discrimination. On my final day, I was inexplicably denied the right to cancel my reservation and check into my room, despite the lack of substantial evidence presented to Priceline to support the hotel's position. I was still billed $350 for a room I couldn't use. As a person with disabilities, I have protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The treatment I received at the hotel was disheartening, leading me to file a complaint with the ADA office. I would appreciate immediate contact from the corporate team of Selena Hotel, Chicago to address this concern. I don't want this scenario to be a burden for others in the future. I'm hopeful for a swift and appropriate response to this situation. I eagerly await your correspondence. Additionally, I had rented two rooms one night, following an incident where I had to switch rooms due to a loud noise coming from the water pipes. The new room had a smaller bed than initially promised, no air-conditioning, and the cable TV stopped working the first night. Despite my requests for maintenance and cleaning, the staff did not address these issues. Although I may appear youthful, I was driving a luxury vehicle and am not a minor. Yet, I was treated like one, which was wholly inappropriate and unprofessional. I had a conversation with another guest, ( we will call him Travis), he is a world traveler, and stays only at Selina brand hotels I had some of my art with me we got to talking about how my art might align with the Selena brand as I am a neo, abstract, expressionist. I was considering reaching out, but after this experience, I'm unsure of how to proceed. Despite this unfortunate incident, I've always been a fan of Selena Hotel, it was one of my favorite spots in Chicago, and I had plans to visit other locations around the world. Best Regards, Lyle D. Hotel is in a great location but is in need of a revamp/modernisation. The co-working space and lobby are nice and modern but they do not reflect the room. Beds were clean but the room carpet was a little dirty. Bathroom was old but the water pressure was good. Overall ticks the box to visit downtown but not special in anyway.

Pros: great location, friendly staff, iron, TV Cons: no cleaning service during the stay, strong & unpleasant smell in the lobby, one small elevator for a 16-storey building, dripping water in the bathroom, no disinfectant in the gym We booked Chicago Selina Hotel with ***********. I want to note that this hotel is described as 4* Hotel on *********** while it's a 3* on Google !!! After what we've seen I'm convinced *********** needs to seriously revise the basic details and pictures of this place because it isn't true to the facts. Initially, we were checked-in into a room that turned out to be occupied by other people as we opened the door. I've never had such situation before but the receptionist was nice and gave us a room in a higher standard. Later on I realised we were actually lucky because the reality and the nice pictures online are totally different. For example, the Deluxe room that we got, was presented on *********** with some extra pillows, blanket, plant, decors - this stuff isn't there and the room was very raw. I imagine the Queen room would be much worse.

The food taste okay they give you big size portions of food. My biggest issue is that their are no signs indicating that the validation for parking is only a fraction of the cost. Even inside the Cheesecake Factory The hostess told me to validate my car even though I could park it for free and I paid almost the same price of validating the parking to the cost of my food. I spoke with the manager Darren he informed me that the hostess is trained not to tell the complete truth about the validation of the parking ticket. Or inform the customers correctly about that they still pay for parking even though they ate at Cheesecake Factory.

Pretty good food and fast service for a full house. I thought the lighting was a bit dim but I guess this is the atmosphere this restaurant is trying to create. The cheesecake recommendation from our server was excellent and the raspberry sauce on the side was awesome! ?

My first visit to this location, my wife is almost a regular here! Could not be happier with our visit! It wasn't busy when we came, Grace was our waiter and she was extremely courteous and helpful! Food was top notch, cheesecake was perfect. Will definitely return here!

Excellent menu! Lots of great appetizers and you're not going to go wrong with any of the entrees. Avocado eggrolls are the favorites here for appetizers, however they're all excellent! The entrees are all large portions and they have something for everyone. Treat yourself right to one of their cheesecakes and you'll be happy you did. Great service too!

Our sever was pleasant, but asked for a refill on bread because we didn't get enough the first time for 6 people. He never brought the bread, so I asked again and he said it was coming, it never did, so I didn't bother to ask again. All our food came out at different times and one of us ordered sweet potato fries, but they didn't come out with the sandwich and we were told they were still in the fryer cooking. Had to ask about the fries and they FINALLY were brought when we were ready to box food up.
