Hgu Hotel in New York

Good location and clean, but the rooms are extremely small and not comfortable at all, especially if you’re staying with a child. There are no windows facing the street, which makes the room feel closed-in — almost like being in a cell.

There is no coffee maker or basic amenities in the room. Instead, the hotel places various alcohol bottles for extra charges, which is not helpful for families or business travelers.

For comparison, last year we stayed at Hotel 32|32 (right next door) for two months, and the difference was dramatic. Their rooms are large, bright, and fully equipped with a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, large bed, and street-view windows. HGU, on the other hand, does not even provide essential items like a coffee maker or a usable window view — our window literally faced another room.

Overall, HGU was a disappointing experience, and I would not choose it again, especially when 32|32 offers far better comfort and amenities.

AC doesn’t work for 5 days from the six we were on. Room wasn’t cleaned everyday and even not been cleaned for three days until I called them and ask them to come over now. Smallest room I have ever been on. Just a bad hotel with a good location. Not VFM

My stay at this hotel was an utter disappointment and resulted in unnecessary damage to my property. The single biggest issue was the air conditioning unit, which was severely leaking. Not only did it create a slip hazard on the floor, but it dripped relentlessly right onto my luggage and directly onto a significant portion of my clothes. Several items were completely soaked and are now stained, requiring immediate and expensive dry cleaning. This is completely unacceptable for any functioning hotel room.

BED BUGS! Before I reserve a hotel room, I always check the reviews to scour for any post about bedbugs. I did not find any for this particular hotel. I chose this hotel because of its option for valet which parking in New York is hard to come by. In the morning, we had evidence of bedbugs. We packed all of our belongings into plastic bags and move to another room. After coming back to the room being out all day, we checked the space and found yet again evidence of bedbugs specifically pupa. We didn’t transfer them from room to room because our stuff stayed in plastic bags and they wouldn’t have magically made it to the new bed and started laying eggs. It was late and we got transferred to yet another room but then told that room was having maintenance done on it the next day so we had to go to yet again another room. Perhaps that maintenance was spraying for bedbugs? At this point, we were uncomfortable staying at the hotel, so we decided to check out early And head home. The hotel management is ignoring my phone calls and not responding to messages. They must know there’s a problem and they are avoiding it.
