Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Austin Southwest in Austin

One of the VERY WORST hotels we have ever stayed at! Location of the property is good but that’s where it ends. Website indicates the property’s renovation would be complete by May 20 which didn’t happen (GM says he didn’t post that — ??). No breakfast, no coffee and a VERY inattentive staff with a surly attitude. The TV stopped working altogether. When my husband attempted to raise the blackout shade in the room, the entire thing collapsed (could have hurt him if he hadn’t moved quickly). We checked out of this horrible place early and moved to a fantastic Hampton/Hilton property. We were told this property is soon to become a Marriott Fairfield — regardless, we will never stay at a Wyndham property again and will think twice about a Marriott Fairfield as well.

This property is undergoing significant remodeling which wasn't communicated to us when we selected it for a business stay. Due to the construction, the lobby, breakfast area, fitness center and pool were all unavailable. The so called "grab and go" breakfast consisted of an apple, small carton of apple juice and a small granola bar and it isn't available till 0630. Additionally, there is no hot coffee dispenser or urn in the area of the front desk.
The noise levels were unacceptable originating from both the construction activities and from many of the guests, who were also construction laborers. During the evening hours, these laborers would walk up and down the hallway in front of our room carrying on loud conversations in spanish with their speakers on. These inconsiderate laborers would constantly open and slam their room doors during the evening hours with total disregard for the other guests on the same floor.
This was one of the worst hotel stays I've ever experienced.
One last comment must be shared. It appears the owners of this la Quinta will be ending their franchise with Wyndam and are moving to become a Marriott property very soon. This probably explains all the construction activities.
I won't be staying here in the future and would caution anyone else to do so anytime soon.

Don’t stay here until they finish renovations! Dust, dirt, paint fumes, and dirty mattresses lining the hallways. We were called before check in and told we would lose our room if we didn’t pay over the phone, probably because anyone who saw the property would cancel their reservation.

Breakfast service was normal, but ruined by paint chunks and dust in the half of a dining room not under construction. Our door handle was apparently new and “sticky” and had to be violently shoved open each time. Key cards were constantly deactivated. Sound proofing is genuinely terrible, there’s a two inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor below.

No housekeeping services unless you request it the night before by 9pm. There was also a sign stating hot breakfast would be unavailable in the coming weeks due to construction.

Just don’t stay here, it’s not worth it.
