Yangi Sharq in Samarkand

First the positive. The location is excellent with a large beautiful park just behind the hotel. All the main attractions are within a walking distance of 1-1.5km. Plenty of restaurants close by.
The negatives are plenty. The advertised facilities are not available. I asked about the airport transfer but they didn’t respond so ended up making my own way to the hotel. The room I was given had a single uncomfortable bed and it was so tiny it felt claustrophobic. The TV only had YouTube and not any cable channels and even that didn’t work. They tried to fix tv but gave up.
There was no mini bar just an empty fridge. There was an electric kettle but no tea or coffee.
Breakfast was included but it was boring, no juice, no fruit or cereal.
One day the water went off for over 4 hours and when it came back it was a mucky brown colour. Ran the taps for over an hour but still the water wasn’t clear. The water stayed like that all night. The next morning I had to run the taps for 30 minutes before the water cleared.
I asked to change rooms but they said they were fully booked despite me only seeing 3 other people at breakfast.
I was originally booked for 9 nights in September but decided to check out after 3 days. At checkout they would only accept Visa and not Mastercard so I had to pay cash in local currency. I received change back when I paid my bill but I was short changed. I only noticed after leaving the hotel that I was given a 10000 note instead of 100000 in change. I emailed the hotel about the short change but got no response back.
The room prices are low but it’s not good value for money as not all the facilities are available as advertised on the website.
