The view from the hotel is incredible — it’s quite spacious and reasonably priced. The bathroom was fine, but the shower didn’t have a door, so water would spill out every time we showered. The hotel has a restaurant and a pool, as well as its own access to enjoy the beach. We really liked it; the only downside is that it’s a bit far from the city center — about a 30-minute walk — and unfortunately, the path isn’t well lit for walking at night. We still recommend it; it’s a great option to consider in Sarandë. If you want to see the hotel and our room, I’ve included a photo with the QR code to our YouTube channel, where we have a video from Albania showing it.

Wonderful.staff, can't do enough to help you. Lovely breakfast. Glorious beaches a little further from town but bus arrive once a hour around half past the hour.

Location was way to far from the center and the beach connecting to the hotel was unusable. Huge waves kept striking the sand. This mainly because the hotel is right beside a huge lake which connects to the ocean, creating big waves. And im really shocked about the following: this hotel had no handsoap, no toiletroll holder, toilet itself is way too high to sit on, cant properly see myself in the mirror because the bathroom lights are too dimmed and last but not least… The toilet itself keeps breaking (unable to flush).

Also, so sick and tired eating the exact same breakfast each morning because the hotel doesnt provide you with anything different. Im doubting if this hotel even deserves a 3 star.

Dodona Hotel has a few positves and negatives;

Good

- great views from the balcony if you get the sea facing rooms. Ask for that when you book else you will get a construction site view.

- nice pool with a sea view as well

- helpful owner Matt to answer questions

- OK breakfast with a few variety.

- next to the beach ⛱️,  but the beach is pebbles so get your aqua shoes

- New hotel so the rooms are good.

Bad

- hard to get to as its away from town.

- nearest place to eat is around 15 mins walk

- you can get the bus , but still a 15 min walk to the hotel from bus stop

- no water in rooms - its 32 degrees ! Ask if you can fill up bottles at the restaurant downstairs
- lots of step to go down to the beach.
- staff warned the waves can be dangerous as its where the river meets the ocean.

STUNNING location and view, I believe one of the best in Sarande, where the river meets the sea you have stunning view from every side you look, even the elevator. It’s not central, but also not far nor isolated at all! Perfect if you like quietness for your vacation, because the other side of the city is much much louder!

The rooms are fine and have everything you need, the place is clean, the crowd is sooooooo nice and sweet and caring! Really nice and welcoming people!!! The hotel terrace and pool area is amazing and the beach too 🥹 I MISS IT ALREADY!! Left today and am coming back! Be in that stunning balcony with breathtaking sunset in front of you.

My only complain (it’s not perfect but I also come from a poor area in my country, if you like perfection maybe stay in east Europe… where you won’t find nice hospitality and nicer tourists like in Saranda) was the breakfast, the breakfast could be better but when we were it was low season it was very few guests and I assume it’s not easy to maintain a hotel with these standards not being full so I think it’s better when there’s more people… They need a toaster for the bread though and maybe gluten free bread options too…

Thanks again to the sweet crew who works there, they deserve appreciation!!!

The hotel has okay standard, rooms are clean, gets cleaned every day, staff is friendly and AC on the room worked well. Located next to the beach is nice and the view from the balcony (if you got a seaview) and the terrace by the pool is really nice. Breakfast is a bit boring but okay.

The biggest downside with the hotel is its location, it is on the outskirts of the town with a river effectively cutting the hotel off the town, thus making it difficult to get to town if you want to go to other restaurants etc.

Where to even begin. It’s really hard to point out the positives of this hotel. The rooms were horrible with no additional amenities such as SOAP. The pool was horrible and disgusting and the beach borderline unusable with the lake merging on the river which you aren’t allowed to cross to go to the actual beach. This is just the basics, the management were HORRIBLE. We came in from a night out only to be met with the manager of the establishment arguing and threatening us at the entrance. In his words translated “I’ll come to your face and show you what’s up”. This happened after their staff claimed that we “did not pay the bill” of £3 which we had already paid for. Only to be met constantly throughout our stay with the staff “monitoring” us despite us having paid every time. He claimed that we were rude and that he’s never had any people stay over and have any problems with their staff. Looking through the reviews you can clearly see that’s false and after pointing that out he further decided to threaten me and teach me “manners”. Embarrassing establishment and I urge all people to AVOID this hotel. There are MUCH BETTER and affordable hotels near by compared to this

Hotel Dodona is an outstanding choice for travelers seeking comfort and style. With its spacious rooms offering breathtaking sea views, attentive staff, and a superb restaurant, this hotel delivers an exceptional experience.

We had a very relaxing week at hotel Dodona. The room was clean and a large balcony with a great view, the pool space was clean and refreshing, the beach near by was also convenient however it is a pebble beach so bring water shoes. The staff were friendly, helpful and honest, especially the young dark haired man at the front desk and the bar staff. The location is slightly out of the way which means it is peaceful, however, it would benefit from a bridge or something to cross the river to get to other restaurants etc, this is not a problem if you have a car. One improvement that could be made would be the food on offer in the restaurant, during our stay the pizza was never available and they would make considerably more money by offering snacks such as crisps, ice cream etc.

We were conned on two different occasions by this hotel and it's disgraceful owner. Firstly, when we arrived we were told they had no knowledge of our booking via Expedia even though I had a confirmation email of the dates and price from them. I had also emailed the hotel on several occasions asking certain questions to which they always replied. There was even one email that thanked us for our reservation which was done a full 10 months before arrival. They then told us they do have a room available which was a twin with double bed, a balcony and a sea view. Guess what.....exactly what we had already booked with them!
They then told us the price which worked out at 164€ more than the original agreed price!!! A complete orchestrated con!
Secondly, the next con was when we dined one evening and were given menus to choose our food. We ordered the same thing at 800 Lek only to go to the till later to be charged 1200 Lek. When I queried this price I was told the menu is wrong.
A list the type of issues we encountered: We had a pipe in the middle of our balcony which came through the wall from the balcony next door, there was mould all over the shower cubicle and tiling, the toilet roll holder was half hanging out of the wall, there was no lock on the balcony door and there was no safe in the room meaning literally anyone could get into the room and steal everything. The toilet stank of sewage with the maid putting bleach down it every day to try and cover up the smell, the lock on the toilet door was missing, only one of the two toilet flush buttons worked, the shower plug hole was full of hairs from previous guests, and the shower head was filthy and looked as if it had never ever been cleaned.
Elsewhere there were loose exposed wires hanging down from walls and ceiling in the corridors, and the wi-fi signal was lost on many occasions.
The pool suction holes on the inner walls had no caps on some of them meaning a child's hand or foot could easily be dragged into it. On one of the handlebar steps you use to get in and out of the pool, one side was completely missing meaning you had to pull yourself out of the pool, and where the other one should of been there was a gaping hole where again you could easily trap your toes. Also, there were always dead flies and insects floating on the top of the pool every morning and a large amount of dirt and sand floating around on it's bottom. I never once saw anyone clean the pool in the whole time we were there.
There are some very steep steps that lead down to the beach where lots of pieces of stone are missing or there are many cracks in them meaning you could easily trip and fall down a long way to the bottom, furthermore, there was also large pieces of the hand rails to the sides that were also missing. This could have catastrophic consequences to a child or elderly person trying to use them! At the bottom of the steps there is a litter bin that was overflowing onto the beach the day we got there and was still overflowing - considerably more - 5 days later when we left.
We were here on a B&B board but we wished we hadn't bothered. The breakfast is only for Albanian or Italian guests and not suitable for any other nationalities as it's not the sort of things we eat. Furthermore, we didn't want to either as there were never any coverings on the food and every morning it was swarming with flies and little insects walking all over it.
With the exception of a young lady who worked at breakfast time and spoke good English, the rest of the staff were rude, arrogant, obnoxious, miserable and refused to smile or greet you. The lady who ran the kitchen (possibly the owner's wife) even went one step further and always looked away when you made eye contact with her. There was one occasion when I tried to fill up my small flask with water from the water barrel in the bar area only to be told by the waiter that it was for staff only. However, I pointed out to him that I had seen numerous Albanian and Italian guests filling their bottles up without him saying anything to them.
