Description

Modern hotel lies in a tropical garden between the curved Crescent beach and the emerald forested hills, close to restaurants and shops, the tourist centre and vibrant city of Sanya, on the southern coast of Hainan island. The hotel offers its guests a classical formula year-round beach holiday among the carefully protected nature and healthy air.

Consists of one 11-storey building (Sky Garden) and two 3-storey blocks (Water Garden and Club Intercontinental).

Traveling with three people, I initially contacted the hotel via Ctrip to see if an extra bed could be added, but the hotel flat-out refused. However, upon check-in, the hotel not only added a bed but also offered a complimentary executive lounge access. Overall, it was a decent experience, but coming from a St. Regis, I felt a significant drop in quality. The room was a bit old, and breakfast was just okay. The executive lounge offered enough to fill up, though the variety and taste of the food were nothing special. Also, there were so many Russians; it felt like half the guests were Russian! 😂😂😂

Before my arrival, the concierge called me, and my butler, Mia, added me on WeChat. They arranged a room very close to the lounge, which was super convenient for afternoon tea, and the view was quite nice. The toiletries were Byredo, which is one of my favorite perfume brands. It was a sunny day when we went, and the ocean was truly crystal clear. The beach is a coral reef area with quite a few rocks, which was a bit rough on the feet. The lounge breakfast was a bit simple, so we opted for the Mediterranean restaurant instead. The view there was first-class, and the breakfast selection was extensive. The burgers at the lounge's afternoon tea were pretty good. We checked in at 1 PM and were settled into our room by 1:30 PM. We had some complimentary drinks at the lobby bar while we waited. Mia, our butler, was incredibly attentive. She provided welcome fruits and proactively asked if we needed anything. Upon learning we were moving to another hotel the next day, she kindly extended our check-out time to 2 PM. I'll definitely look for Mia again on my next stay.

The sea view room had an unbeatable view, and the room maintenance and cleanliness were excellent. Service was incredibly prompt; when we requested an extra chair for the room, they even coordinated with the restaurant to have one sent up! Our butler, Annie, was super thoughtful, often proactively checking in on our needs and reminding us about the weather. She even gave our child a souvenir! We had a fantastic five-night stay. The hotel's pool is huge, and you can go clam digging and play in the sand by the sea. Every day was so fulfilling. Next time, I'd love to try a room type with an outdoor area!

Our stay was absolutely delightful, and a huge thank you goes to our butler, Cynthia. She anticipated all our needs without us even having to ask. I was thinking of requesting a late check-out, and before I could even mention it, I received confirmation that Cynthia had already arranged it. We had a wonderful two-day stay, and I'd also like to extend my gratitude to every staff member at the InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort. A pleasant vacation wouldn't be possible without the humble and dedicated efforts of each and every one of them.

I was very satisfied with my stay. Cynthia, our butler, was incredibly attentive and thoughtful. The Mediterranean restaurant has a great vacation vibe; although it's a bit small, the layout is very efficient, making it easy to grab food. The only downside was the male staff member at the breakfast restaurant entrance on the first morning, who was quite unhelpful when I asked a question. Overall, though, I was pleased. The pool was fun too, and the beachfront BBQ buffet also seemed excellent!

Facilities: In the second room, the bedside lamp flickered as if it wasn't getting enough power. The fan in the first room was noisy.

Hygiene: The first room had a lot of ants, so we couldn't leave any sweet food open.

Environment: The view outside the window was absolutely stunning, arguably the best sea view I've ever seen from a room in Sanya.

Service: Butler Annie's service attitude was excellent, and she was very efficient. She promptly handled our requests regarding facilities and changing rooms.

Dining: We had one of the worst dinners ever. Apart from the sea view, both the food and the environment were disappointing. The steak and pizza were all dry and tough, and there were many mosquitoes around the BBQ. It was a very tiring meal; we only ate a few bites and left. It definitely wasn't worth the 288 price tag.

The rooms are spacious and offer great value for money. The hotel itself is beautiful. Every staff member was fantastic. Our butler, July, provided excellent and responsive service. She even thoughtfully brought us three large coconuts, a fruit platter, and wine. The kids' club isn't huge, but it has a lovely environment and is perfect for kids.

The service was incredibly welcoming. We arrived early and were greeted with welcome drinks and fruit. Our butler, July, was very attentive, providing a thorough introduction to the hotel and was always responsive to our requests. We were also delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade to a room with a stunning sea view, thanks to our annual membership! The rooms here are quite new compared to others in the area. The swimming pool is conveniently located right opposite the lobby, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of choices. Overall, a great experience – highly recommended!

I was very satisfied with my stay. The hotel isn't brand new, but it doesn't feel old either. The sea view from the high-floor room was beautiful, and the bougainvillea on the balcony was perfectly placed. The public areas are also lovely, perfect for a relaxing, 'lie-flat' kind of holiday. However, it doesn't have its own private beach; it's the public beach of Xiaodonghai, which was a bit rough on the feet. But you can go clam digging! Once you get into the water, you can immediately see many small fish. The water gets deep very quickly, so I wouldn't recommend it for non-swimmers.

The service was incredibly attentive, and the staff were all very friendly. Check-in was quick, and a special thanks goes to our butler, Annie, who promptly responded to all our requests and even proactively recommended great spots for hiking and watching the sunset nearby. The breakfast selection was extensive, featuring local Hainanese snacks, as well as both Chinese and Western options. Everything tasted delicious, and even late risers could enjoy a satisfying meal. The lounge manager was also excellent, very warm and thoughtful!
