Very good family experience and not far from airport, or santo domingo for those that want to venture into the city, or bring your family over.... it is a good retreat for resting, the food is dominican, and it is in the best spot in the boca chica beach.

Clean, great food, amazing service, a lot of entertainment options, plenty of pool areas… I loved the stool under the pool with a swim up bar. People were super pleasant. We were there for a honey moon and they made it very special, the welcoming to our room!!

The staff are friendly and the pool and beach are clean. My room was large and comfortable and the food has been some of the best buffet style hotel food that I’ve had while visiting Santo Domingo. Unfortunately, the hotel seems fairly outdated and my bathroom was dark and needed repairs.

Beautiful property in great location but it shows its age. Many hallways and fixtures in disrepair. They offer a premium dining service that is not that much different than the regular buffet. Everything at this hotel was incredible! Seriously from the rooms! And the service out of this world. Roxanna especially was the best server. Room was dirty and old, it was damp from rain entering the door, blow dryer fell from wall and never fixed. Food wasn’t good.

The hotel staff are quite friendly and speak both English and Spanish with clarity. My room was clean and spacious. The stay at the Barceló Hotel was great. The lunch (buffet) for dinner and breakfast was exceptional and the service employees were always eager to help. Mr. Bautista Rowero was very friendly and helpful, gave us a big smile and offered us immediate help with our luggage which made our stay so much more pleasent.

I highly recommend the unique experience, which includes a butler service during you stay. Our butler, Oliver, went above and beyond. He helped me navigate food allergy issues, made our dining and spa reservations, and even went to the local store to get me a brush, that I failed to pack.

I only recommended this hotel if you need to stay in Santo Domingo for one or a couple of nights. We had leaking in the bathroom and the shower was old. The staff very kind and helpful, except when I was going to use the swimming pool as everyday they was questioning me if I am a customer.

it is an old hotel. all equipment are old. But it's service is good.

The resort was beautiful and very clean. I don't feel I capitalized on all they had to offer. There was so much to do on the resort and it was very secure. It required everyone to check in at the gate via security. My only complaint is that I did not enjoy the food.

The food was really not good. The hotel finishes are very nice but the whole place had the best odd smell combined with mustiness in the room. It was a weird cleaner or fragrance. Also the drinks were not great either.

I loved my stay here, only thing I would say is how room service does not come unless you ask for it, and the fact that there are no swim up bars! I did not realize how important this part would be! Besides that, me and my partner really enjoyed our stay!

The rooms were weird. There’s a giant door between the shower and the bedroom. It leaks and it’s really creepy. The historic Colonial Zone hotel has a great staff, Quirico & Barbara, to name a few, but they were all very kind and professional. Their amenities and rooms were excellent and clean. But the best part is that you just have to walk three short blocks to right from the front of the hotel, and two blocks up and you will be smack in the middle of Parque Cristóbal!

Also need to enforce rules at the pool. When locals arrive there’s no more peace and quiet, they take glass bottles to the pool putting in danger everybody else. They also turn on loud speakers with no regard to other guests.

The location is perfect, the service was pleasant, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. But I don't recommend the beds; my back is still sore from how hard they were. But afterward, everything was great. We just couldn't rest.

Rooms work but they can definitely be better, for the same price you can find better options near the location. Service is good and location is honestly priceless. Food is great, but pool should be cleaned more often, it always had lots of debris, insects and dirtiness, it had a strong chlorine smell.
