We spent two lovely days in Pau and were delighted to be guests in the Hotel Le Roncevaux for that time. It is an older hotel but is nicely upgraded with all modern conveniences. And the location in Pau is perfect for the visitor. The staff was friendly, courteous and made the extra effort to ensure our satisfaction. I recommend the hotel without any hesitation!

I love this wee hotel. Perfect location. Very friendly staff. I always stay here when I'm in Pau overnight. Great value. Quaint.

Economic,
Economy stay with zero frills. Premium room was spacious but property is aged and in a bit of disrepair. Shower leaked onto bathroom floor creating a large river and pools of water on an already spongy floor.

There is no air conditioning in the rooms but they provide a small fan and the windows fully open. In a heat wave, however, prepare to be a bit stifled.

Staff is friendly and multilingual. Note that you cannot check in early so must wait until 3pm but can store your luggage to go eat or explore the city.

Hotel is a block and a half away from the funiculaire up from or down to the train station so its location is excellent if you are not picky. Plenty of restaurants and a Monoprix within walking distance.

Staff is very friendly, and it's super well located with a small parking in the hotel patio

Lacks a bit of maintenance in the shower, elevator.

No air conditioner, just a basic fan.

Walls are very thin so you hear the neighbours a lot

We haven’t been allowed by the young lady at the reception for 1 hour late check out which was really disappointing since there were not any real reason for that

Le Roncevaux - charming hotel in Pau.
Lovely positioned hotel in centre. Rooms clean with good shower and towels. Staff lovely.

This place is under development and they should close the hotel till all work is completed. It should be called a backpackers hostel. The French are well-known for their good breakfasts. Not to be found here. Little choice of breakfast items and no French baguettes! What a let down. NB: there is only ONE exit from the upper floors of the establishment!

I really loved the burger with fresh foie gras! I ordered their steak a second time--it was very good but it was just too big. Great atmosphere, they give a lot of food so you should come hungry. It's not cheap, but the price is not crazy either. Great staff!
