We loved this hotel. Hosted by the lovely Francisco, we were welcomed warmly and always made to feel at home. Extra requests were always supported, and a kinder staff you could not find anywhere. We were even helped into our airport taxi and waved goodbye. The location is astounding. A historic building, look out your window and to the left to see Notre Dame Cathedral right across the road. The Shakespeare bookshop is below, and a park across the road. Multiple restaurants surround you. This is a one star hotel which is 5 Star location and service. Thank you for having us!

This is a unique experience. It is in a 400 year old building that is shared with the famous Shakespeare and Company bookstore. The worn wooden stairs, peeling wallpaper add to the character. We had an amazing view of Notre Dame from our window. You can almost feel the spirits of those who used to hang out here...Ernest Hemingway, The Fitzgeralds.

Old and funky Old World charm oozing. No elevator but the staff will volunteer to carry your bags up for you. Perfect location.

Decent hotel, but terrible location in relation to the extremely loud karaoke bar next door. It played really loud every night. If only there had been good music and singers, but drunk people who can't sing. It takes a lot away from the character.

We loved our stay at Hotel Esmeralda which felt like stepping back in time. The hotel does a great job of keeping original features and character while offering modern amenities. The ensuite was functional and clean and I was impressed with the availability of plug sockets in the room and great wifi. The staff we met were all helpful, friendly and spoke good English which was great when we have limited French. Although there is no lift we were helped to the room with our luggage. The location could not be better for access to the bars and restaurants of the Latin Quarter and of course the beautiful Notre Dame.

Each of the three rooms I tried had bedbugs that appeared within a few minutes of me sitting on the bed. That being said, the hotel is in an excellent location and the staff was understanding of the situation. Once the bedbug problem is fixed, it would be a decent place to stay in a great location

Perfect location
The location is absolutely perfect. Close enough to the Metro and night life.
The hotel is slightly dated but for a weekend in Paris it was perfect.
The room was satisfactory and had a shower with bath.
The bed was comfortable enough with wooden bed frame and a bit squeaky so apologies to the room next door 😉
