AllgäuStern Hotel in Sonthofen

I noticed some unfair and even racist comments in other reviews, and I think it’s important to speak up and offer a fair perspective. The Allgäustern Hotel deserves recognition for its diverse, hardworking, and genuinely friendly team. Everyone here — from reception to the kitchen and housekeeping — puts in real effort to make guests feel comfortable and welcome.

Staff & Service:
The reception team sets the tone with kindness and professionalism. They are attentive, polite, and always ready to help with a smile. Some of the Azubis (trainees) are still learning the language, but what truly stands out is their eagerness to improve and willingness to learn. That positive attitude is something to be appreciated, not criticized.

Food & Dining:
The food is tasty, fresh, and nicely presented. You can see that care goes into both preparation and service, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience.

Cleanliness & Comfort:
Rooms and facilities are well maintained. The entire hotel gives a sense of care and organization — clean spaces, comfortable rooms, and a pleasant atmosphere throughout.

Overall Impression:
No hotel is perfect, but the Allgäustern stands out for its human touch — a team that works together, learns together, and strives to give every guest a warm experience. Diversity should be celebrated, and this team truly represents what hospitality is about: respect, effort, and kindness.

Nice property. Beautiful views. Half-board option was nice. Enjoyed out stay

Good place to spend calm time. Room has little dust. Not vacuumed properly. Food menu is almost same for all the days. No ironing boards at room. Have to walk to main building to iron. Rainy weather , it’s really difficult to walk from far away building.

Who wouldn't want waking up to such views? Great location, one can walk to the river and enjoy. Supermarkets like Aldi, Deichmann, and McDonald's are nearby downhill. At the river, one can find bakeries as well. Good rooms, well ventilated.

Excellent setting,we had a spectacular view from our balcony if you were standing, not at all if sitting in the chairs provided,the wooden balcony obscured the view completely.The room was big clean and pleasant and generally typical of a top hotel,although I have stayed in many hotels and had never stayed in one with no coffee making facilities in the room before,that was a down for me,I had to either call for room service or go down to the restaurant or bar area. The hotel seemed to be very understaffed, we waited half an hour to get a drink at the bar,we elected to leave the hotel and have drinks in the town. All in all for the price paid it fell short over my stays in budget hotels.

Property was quite good

Great views and location. Spa and swimming pool are decent as well. Rooms are outdated and are in need of improvements, esp. considering the price and four stars of the hotel.
