My stay at this hotel was… memorable, but not in a good way. On arrival I was told the computer systems were down, meaning no room key for the entire 3-night stay. Any time I needed to access my room I had to wait for a staff member with a master key to escort me, like a VIP, but without the fun. Inconvenient? Yes. Embarrassing? Definitely.

I get that technical issues happen, but the hotel didn’t seem to try to fix it or offer any goodwill. Even after following up via Trip.com, they refused any compensation. Charging full price while guests can’t access their rooms independently feels like a bold business strategy.

Oh and the door hanger promising drink tokens in exchange for skipping housekeeping? I hung it out every day and got… nothing. Guess it was more of a decorative feature.

The room itself was fine - dated, but functional. Ultimately, the lack of effort to address these issues left me feeling disappointed. Here’s hoping the management figures out a better plan for future system meltdowns.

Visited Berlin in late-Nov 2024 to soak in some history and this hotel is perfectly placed as it is walking distance to Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, the Topology of Terror, the remnants of the Berlin Wall, etc.

It’s extremely convenient as it is literally on the doorstep of Anhalter banhof where the S-Bahn connects to the various parts of the city within minutes.

We were pleasantly surprised by an upgrade upon check in and the room was lovely. Very spacious and inviting. Toilet has heated flooring, which was welcome during the cold week we visited. However, the room had features which were baffling.

There was a control for the bed to specify the firmness preference but it did not seem to be working. We never got to try it during our 5 nights there. Then there was the telephone. There were no instructions on how to use it and only when I went down to ask, we were told to call 171 for reception. That’s a strange number!

We couldn’t get the thermostat to work. We pressed all the buttons (there were only 4 on the panel) and tried short jabs, long presses but nothing worked. The aircon was resolved two days later when I approached another staff member who asked maintenance to check on it. But we did have a cold two nights as housekeeping had left the window open after they made up the room on both cold days (it was about 2 degrees Celsius when we returned on both days)

I eventually had to go down to reception (I didn’t know how to work the telephone yet) and informed the manager on duty, Tina. She asked me to press the buttons which I said I had. She told me I needed to turn it on. Again, I said I did. Then she did something which I was not prepared for: she shrugged and left it at that. To say I was taken aback was an understatement. I had never had that sort of response before from a hotel. It made the claim on one of the notes in our room - that the hotel seeks to maximise our comfort during our stay - a bit hollow to say the least.

I also mentioned the bed controls to Tina and she also shrugged to indicate she couldn’t do anything about it. Unbelievable.

The room also was lacking a kettle when we checked in and it took two days to sort that out. The first night, we were given a kettle when we requested but it didn’t work. When I went down again, I was asked to go to the bar to get hot water for the time being but there was no one at the bar or the restaurant. The manager on duty (not Tina) was about to go home and told me that housekeeping had already left and indicated there was nothing to be done. To her credit, she did get me a jug of hot water when I insisted I needed hot water that evening.

And finally, we noticed that the tv remote control disappeared on the third day of our stay. We reported it but there was no replacement given. We also reported that a pack of nuts on the minibar had been opened. We don’t know if it had been opened right from the start of our stay or if it had been subsequently opened. Again this was reported but the opened pack of nuts remained throughout our stay.

The hotel has lovely rooms and is in a fantastic location but it is let down by staff.

Hey guys! What about saying "hello!" instead of "check'n?"? What about saying "good evening" when guests get back at night instead of starring at your phones behind your reception desk? What about cleaning the elevator, the door to our room and the carpets? What about offering some vegan umami stuff for breakfast in the worlds no 2 most vegan city, before your guests ask you to? What a pitty the hotel doesnt have the high standards it have had several years ago.

I stay often at Mövenpick Hotel Berlin, and while the rooms are nice and clean, and the breakfast is tasty, the service at reception is extremely unprofessional.

First of all, the staff often doesn’t speak German and regularly mix things up. On one occasion, they gave me the key to someone else’s room—mixing up names, which is completely unacceptable.

Check-in is another major issue. There is always a long line at reception, which is the last thing you want to deal with after a tiring workday. This happens because of the slow and unprofessional service—it’s clear that the staff are not well-trained or efficient.

Additionally, they demand a deposit of 50 EUR per day for the minibar, which is always empty! To make matters worse, one time, a receptionist insisted that I buy a chocolate bar as a deposit and return it upon checkout. When I refused, he simply said “okay,” which was totally weird and unprofessional.

To top it all off, during my last stay, the teapot in my room wasn’t working. I called reception and asked for a replacement, but no one ever showed up that evening.

This kind of unprofessional and chaotic service has made me lose trust in this hotel. I’ve had enough and will look for alternatives. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone until their service improves.

The pancakes at breakfast are the best reason to go to this hotel. They crumble in your mouth, buttery, soft and just enough sweetness that you hear, no, feel the work of God. The omelette too! With cheese 😭

I stayed at this hotel, hoping that the Swiss brand would ensure a high standard and that the four stars according to German standards would be truly deserved.

I booked a room with a King Bed and specified in the reservation. I requested on a high floor with a bathtub and an attractive view, even if it was just of the street. Unfortunately, I received room number 104, which does not meet any of these requirements. The bed is definitely not a King Bed, the room is on the lowest floor, it is equipped with a shower, and the view from the window is of a dirty courtyard...

The hotel has clearly seen better days, which is also reflected in the staff. The reception ignored my message pointing out that the room did not meet the reservation conditions. The walls in the room are dirty, the carpets are stained, and the furniture is scratched and worn. Some of the appliances are archaic and should be replaced.

All of this indicates that the hotel still has a lot of work to do. While a renovation might be a major undertaking, more thorough cleaning and a friendlier, more professional staff are issues that can be improved immediately. These kinds of changes are crucial for improving guest comfort and maintaining the hotel's good reputation.

My recent stay at the hotel in Mövenpick Hotel Berlin was nothing short of exceptional. The location is perfect, offering easy access to all the city's main attractions, which made exploring Berlin an absolute breeze. However, what truly stood out was the outstanding service provided by the staff. They were incredibly attentive and always ready to assist with a smile. In particular, Mr. Michal was very helpful, thanks to him it was easier for me to reach the designated meeting points in a foreign city. Everything was handled with the utmost professionalism and care. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Berlin; it's a fantastic place with amazing service!

I personally dealt with the general manager and he customer service obligations extend well beyond his responsibility. He is a very hands on and attentive manager. The Filipino man who seemed to be in charge of the food area was extraordinary. Great experience!

Great rooms in a good location. High ceilings combined with extremely quiet rooms make relaxing very easy. The staff were friendly and efficient. Very close to a number of attractions and situated between a number of U and S stops.

Will stay here again.

The hairdryer did not unfortunately work for 3 days, luckily the receptionist helped us.
I could not figure out how to make the sauna work.
The cleaning standards are low (dust everywhere, carpet).
The bar crew is very attentive.
The internal patio is very relaxing.
Very well connected and quiet area.
Breakfast was amazing.
