The staff were friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself needs improvement. The room was small, hot (even with two fans), and not very clean. The bathroom was cramped, and overall the hotel felt outdated. The location is decent but a bit tricky to navigate late at night. It’s a good spot if you don’t mind basic conditions, but not ideal for comfort.

I stayed here for one night and was very disappointed. The room was not clean, with hairs on the bed and dust on the wardrobes. The door left a large gap, so every sound from the hallway was audible. Amenities were poor – too few power outlets, no air conditioning, and only a small, ineffective fan. Overall, the hotel urgently needs better cleaning and renovation.

Absolute dump. From the outside looks like an abandoned hotel closed in the 80s, inside pretty similar. Stinks. Rooms are shabby beyond belief. Bed sheets stained. No aircon. Ambiance of a russian hourly rate hotel. Dreadful. Run away and find somewhere else, please.

This is a basic, yet decent, clean, and well-maintained hotel. Its location is excellent, being close to the metro and the city center. It's a pleasant 10-minute walk to Potsdamer Platz, 15 minutes to the Brandenburg Gate, and 20 minutes to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.

I had read some very negative reviews online, but I found them to be completely unfounded. The hotel clearly makes an effort to paint the rooms and keep them in good condition. While it's definitely not a 5-star establishment, the value for money is excellent. As is common with most hotels in Berlin, there's no air conditioning, and the heat was quite noticeable during my stay at this time of year.

Overall, I found the hotel to be perfectly satisfactory.

Worst hotel ever to avoid

I stayed at this hotel for a school trip and I strongly advise against it. The rooms smelled awful, and the bathroom was no exception. It looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months, judging by all the dust and hair. The bed was absolutely disgusting, covered in ***** hair, regular hair, and yellow and brown stains. The bathroom towels were just as bad. In the absolutely filthy bathroom, I found a dirty rag on the sink, and there was a dirty sock in the bed. What's more, in my classmates' rooms, they found used sanitary pads, full and empty bottles, cotton swabs, and other trash. My triple room only had two power outlets, but even worse, some quadruple rooms also only had two. Our room keys worked for multiple rooms, meaning you couldn't safely leave anything valuable inside. I didn't even have the courage to eat breakfast, but my classmates found hair in their food, and some even felt sick. To top it all off, the hotel is located in a questionable neighborhood, right next to a ***** club...

Fantastic Stay at Alper Hotel am Potsdamer Platz!

I had a wonderful experience staying at Alper Hotel. The location is perfect—right in the heart of Berlin, just a short walk from Potsdamer Platz and public transport, making it so easy to explore the city.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with any request. My room was cozy, clean, and well-equipped, offering a comfortable space to relax after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options, and I especially appreciated the fresh coffee!
