Holiday Inn - the niu, Amity Potsdam by IHG in Potsdam

Not a good hotel and no idea how they rate 4.1 star reviews on here. There are literally no conveniences in the room. No coffee, no kettle, no fridge, tiny desk with uncomfortable wooden chair. No phone even, so you have to go down to the reception if you want to ask anything. The Wi-Fi is absurdly slow. The air conditioning is weak and shuts off at night. The fitness room does not exist and they charge extra for a sauna in the basement. I had the worst sleep quality of my trip here thanks to the barely functioning AC. Can't comment on the breakfast, I didn't try it as I refused to spend any more money at this hotel. Fortunately the location is decent next to the train station with ample grocery and food choices more deserving of your money. So in short they get away with providing the absolute bare minimum which makes for an unpleasant stay.

I went ahead and canceled my future reservation at the Niu holiday Inn by the airport as well after this sad experience.

It could have been a nice stay, as the hotel is very nice, simple but very comfortable. Location and breakfast are great! Just what you need for a short stay!
BUT it was just ruined from the beginning. After 10 hours flight with a 1 year old baby, we had almost an hour of discussion with front desk about the rate I booked. They made me look like a fool and wanted to charge me double price from what I had booked originally. I am an IHG employee with a few years of experience working at Front Desk myself. Do you guys really think that I can be confused about the rate I book?
I reserved 2 rooms in the same reservation and they were claiming the TOTAL price I see is for one room only but not two. Only after I told them that I would cancel this reservation and make 2 separate reservations with the price I originally had because it was still available to book on the website, they agreed to change it. I had to show it to them and email a screenshot of it!? Like seriously??
