Description

Victoria Hotel is a 3-star accommodation located in the heart of Düsseldorf's Old Town, offering a range of room types including suites and duplex suites. The hotel operates without a traditional reception desk; guests receive key access codes via email or WhatsApp and enter through a key safe system. Rooms are non-smoking and equipped with heating, but there is no air conditioning, which guests have noted as a drawback during warm nights. Some rooms, such as the Standard Double Attic room, feature city views but may experience noise from the lively pedestrian zone outside. Services include free WiFi, a bar, concierge assistance, and laundry facilities. The building itself is older, with an uncarpeted concrete stairwell. Victoria Hotel’s pricing is considered reasonable for its central location, though some guests have reported inconsistent service availability and issues with room temperature control.

Location

The hotel sits at Hunsrückenstraße 50, right in Düsseldorf’s Old Town, placing guests within a two-minute walk of several bars, clubs, and restaurants. Notable nearby dining options include Restaurant Block House Am Burgplatz (254 m), Fischhaus (269 m), and Libanon Restaurant (288 m). The Paradiesstrand beach is approximately 1.7 kilometers away, and the nearest airport station, QDU, is located directly at 0 km distance, facilitating easy arrival and departure. This central location is ideal for guests interested in nightlife and city exploration but expect some street noise, especially at night.

Tips

  • Expect some street noise if your room faces the pedestrian zone; consider bringing earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
  • Since there is no reception desk, keep your email and WhatsApp communications handy for smooth check-in.
  • Note that heating can be noisy and uneven; if you feel cold, contact the staff early, though responses may be limited.

The hotel is located right in Düsseldorf's Old Town.

Therefore, you can hear everything that's happening in the pedestrian zone.

Opening the windows is possible, but not advisable at night due to the noise... air conditioning would be very helpful here.

The stairwell is old, but the room itself was perfectly fine.

Service was only available by phone, including contact information for the key safe. A written inquiry was answered very quickly... but having someone on-site would be preferable.

The price-performance ratio is excellent.

It is impossible to describe the disgust and disappointment that my mother experienced during her stay in this "hotel", if an ordinary block of flats without a reception can be called that. When she arrived, in the evening, she found no one in the "hotel". Waiting in the cold outside the door was the beginning of a disaster. Her late return was confirmed by the "hotel", but the staff seemed to be completely indifferent to it. Thanks to the kindness of another person renting or living in this block, my mother was able to warm up at least for a moment in a strange apartment. After an hour of searching for the hidden key, because there was no mention of it, she finally got into the room. And what? The temperature there was freezing! She tried to heat the room with a radiator for three hours, but it didn't help. So she was lying under the covers all this time, with a jacket and a scarf inside! This is outrageous! The room was located in the attic with an extended window that cooled the entire room - it was impossible to sleep there without getting sick if the radiator was not turned on early enough. My mother was there for business purposes and couldn't afford to lose her voice overnight. She paid over 300 euros for two nights in a place that treats guests this way. When she contacted the staff, they arrived with a blanket. Seriously? A blanket when the person is lying all frozen? After no help, my mother finally left this fake hotel and had to find another place at her own expense for another 500 euros for two nights! Despite requests and even arguments for a refund, this "hotel" does not want to refund the money for this tragedy. I warn everyone - avoid it!

First off: This isn't a hotel for a truly planned vacation! For party tourism, it's a 1+.

There are no reviews; everything is handled via email and WhatsApp (a plus for me, it was super easy, you get the code for the safe containing the key, and you can always message with questions, etc.).

The location is perfect; bars, clubs, and restaurants are all within a 2-minute walk.

The noise level surprised me! The windows must be incredibly well-insulated; you could barely hear the rest of the party on the street.

The only drawback, if you're not very comfortable with the place, is the bathroom. The bathroom door had apparently recently been broken (glass) and was therefore missing. However, this didn't bother us much.

new and fancy rooms. very central location. If you like to stay in the old town. this is the perfect place despite the relatively small room size.

Can't rate the stay because months after the booking for bookings during the trade fair without an alternative it was simply canceled "due to overbooking". Now that all the other hotels are also occupied, it's just 50km to commute for 4 days.

The pictures are very deceptive, the single room tiny and the bed is just off the wall to the stairwell next to the not well sealed entrance door. The house is very noisy, the staircase concrete without carpet and when at night by 3 other guests come home drunk, you can hear everything and sleep is impossible.

Heating: there was a very loud electric fan heater in the room, which had to share a socket with the fridge. So you have the choice between heating or refrigerator, or not between freezing or falling asleep, because that is the noise, the fan makes, not synonymous.

The bed was very comfortable.

Very centrally located in the old town, probably a good place for party tourists, but otherwise not recommended.
