Albatross Hotel in Maleme

Perfect for peaceful family holiday. Rooms are nice and every corner of the hotel is extremely clean. Staff is just great and kind.

Pool is good. Nobody reserves sun chairs, so there's no morning rush to throw towels everywhere.

Restaurant is good, as is breakfast. Prices are average.

We've been here twice and won't hesitate to come again.

Depending on tranvelling style, this is either an absolute no go or an absolut bang for buck. If youre looking for hotel where you spend all your vacation it's not a good option. But if youre first timer in Crete this is really a good option.

As they state on their website this is an exclusive haven and it's 100% accurate. We came here from far away land in north and had a great time.

Customer service was good and family running the place was really welcoming. As I'm finn this means that people here were not too talkative, or overly passionate to cluster you with a small talk. Things were told clearly and with strong professionality and if questions arose they were answered quickly and clearly.

Acommodation was really greek like, some things were be a bit out dated and done "good enough", but still working and safe.

Breakfast was good, but that diverse still even when coming late there was plenty to eat and enjoy.

TLDR: Come here if you want good all around hotel to use as a home base for exploring the island.

Overall, I had a good experience and the staff were friendly and cooperative. There are a few things that could be improved, such as adding a microwave to the rooms and addressing the noise from the refrigerator at night. It would also be nice to have more variety in the breakfast menu. If possible, having someone available at reception more frequently would be helpful. It's important to note that Chania downtown is about an 18 km drive from the hotel. There is a bus connection, but the location is not very close to the city center. However, there is a beautiful beach just 200 meters behind the hotel, and many restaurants nearby offering great food. The highlight for me was the beach, it has one of the most stunning sunsets in Chania. I visited many beaches during my trip, but this one offered the clearest and most picturesque sunset views. Overall, it’s great value for money, and the family running the place is very welcoming and helpful.

I had very lovely stay with my fiance. The staff was so welcoming and kind , always helpful and lovely. The Rooms were always clean and cleaned well. Food that mom made was delicious and awesome- today’s special was way to go! So good! Pool was clean, big and safe. Also the ocean and the Beach is very near. There is nothing to complaint. It is not the most modern but it is cozy, safe and clean and for me and my fiance that is the most important thing, we loved this place a lot

Here we are in a modest 3* family hotel. You can see the hotel website there are photos and all the information of the rooms. For the location you can see here on Google maps. The sea is 5 minutes walk away.
The owner family is extraordinary, the mother is a very good cook, the daughter is everywhere, at the reception, at the service, throughout the hotel you will find her. She will do everything she can to make you feel good to have a good stay.
If you like palaces do not come here, if you like simple and family places this is the place to come you will not be disappointed. excellent value for money.

We spent 11 nights with a family of 7 at the Albatros, a family run, medium sized hotel in the center of Maleme, only a short walk to the beach front.

The hotel and the rooms are a bit dated, but well maintained and reasonably priced. The sea view/pool view room was quiet and had a very nice view from the balcony, especially in the evenings. Keep in mind that the hotel is next to the main road, so naturally the (cheaper) rooms facing north (towards the road or "mountain view") are more noisy and sitting on the balcony is less pleasing. If you want a quiet room, ask for sea view.

The pool is large, well maintained and well equipped with beds and umbrellas.

The terrace restaurant is open all day, they serve snacks but also fresh traditional Greek dishes and meat from the grill. Food is okay, on par with most tourist oriented restaurants in Maleme. We often had snacks or salads here while hanging at the pool and a few dinners, but also went out quite often. The breakfast is nothing special.

WiFi connection was working flawlessly in the rooms and at the pool and was fast.

The family and staff is very friendly and always helpful, they let us keep one of our rooms on checkout day free of charge so we could leave our luggage there and use the pool all day.

I would recommend the Albatros as a base for exploring the island and the beaches, for hanging out at the pool in the afternoons/evenings and the occasional snack in the restaurant.

My first visit to Crete in 2000 and this was our hotel , the breakfast was poor but it didn’t matter cause the island is a wonderful place , I would love to go back again
