D'Andrea Mare Beach Hotel in Ialyssos

The hotel certainly doesn’t look like the pictures on *******, it is aged and dated. Each of the meals seemed quite repetitive and didn’t have much flavour

My first vacation with my family wasn't that great. We arrived after 1:00 AM, checked in, and went up to our room. We entered the room and I immediately went to the bathroom to check everything. There was water on the floor in the bathroom, the toilet was dirty, the mirror was stained... basically, the bathroom was old and full of silicone everywhere. I sent my husband to reception to report the water in the bathroom, and the receptionist came to dry the water, telling us he'd talk to the manager the next day to resolve the situation. We stayed for 7 days, and every time we took a shower, the bathroom filled with water. No one came to check on the situation, much less change our room. The housekeeping was lacking; the cleaning ladies came in to make the bed and mopped it without vacuuming it, so it was still dirty. I expected more variety in the food, but that wasn't the case. I expected more fish, but that wasn't the case. The pasta was overcooked. The children's area was truly lacking; the swing was about to come apart. The list goes on. For a 4-star hotel, they still need to work hard on cleanliness, friendliness, and food.

Room: We got an upgrade and had a very nice room with an awesome view from the balcony. Room was clean upon arrival and cleaned every day. However, the shower is a bit small, so after showering the bathroom floor was completetly wet each evening.

Staff: The staff was very nice, welcoming and often up for a nice chat :)

Food and Drinks: The food was good/average with a decent selection. The drinks on the other hand were awful. The mai tai was blue… and the the cocktails were overall too sweet and weak. We ended up going to the beach bar next to the hotel to drink cocktail and beer each evening.

The still water served at the poolbar and dinner was also not enjoyable - I believe it was tap water (tasted like poolwater). But they had decent sparkling water.
The coffee was also not great (i think it was some kind of instant coffee)

Ambient: The music was not our taste but the animation team was giving their best and they were all very nice. Evening shows were good and there was smth else each day. I guess if you have kids the ambience and pool is nice - for us as a couple it was a bit to noisy and overstimulating.

Beach: The beach is great if you like windsurfing. Swimming and snorkling is not really enjoyable as the waves a pretty high. The sunbeds at the beach were not the best especially in comparison to the sinbeds at the pool (but these were all taken by latest 8 am and as said at the pool it was very loud and the music was not great)

Overall, it was a decent experience - but we were lucky to have a car with which we could escape the hotel from time to time.
