Blue Bay Resort in Ialyssos

Rhodes is a lovely place but I would never stay at this hotel again.We were given a superior family room,it definitely was not superior.Bathroom had dirty wall and floor with chipped tiles.in bedroom broken safe door wouldn’t close.room very dated.Balcany had a wall with wooden fencing.I am in a wheelchair so couldn’t look out at our view even though some rooms had glass balcony or just a brick wall.lift was so small I had to go in it by myself.(in my wheelchair) which even then was a tight squeeze.restaurant had upper floor and has steps to go down.Lower floor was more accessible for me.They kept sitting us on the upper floor,so my family then needed to take me right round outside and back in on lower floor for me to choose and get food.and then back out and in again.we tried to ask for lower floor but they still showed us to table on upper floor.insisting there were no tables available on the lower floor,which as we looked this was not the case.food was average and very repetitive.went to indoor pool restaurant.for breakfast Little choice .fruit mainly tinned.flies on it as there were no lids.Flies even on hot food after breakfast there we no sun beds available around the main as people got up and put towels on them early morning even though sign said towels will be removed.Having to pay 3 euros for iced coffee and outside gelato you had to pay for ice creams.For what it cost to stay should be in the all inclusive.Bar staff were lovely and friendly.Overall 100% not worth the money it cost to stay there.

This is not the best Rhodes has to offer however if you want to be near the airport for a quick transfer, you'd struggle to beat it.
Blue Bay Resort is quite tired and in need of some modernisation and decoration.
If you want lively and loud, it's the place for you. Our visit was in October and it was packed. I dread to think what it would be like in peak season!
On the plus side, there are several swimming pools on the resort, a couple of which were on the outer perimeter and more tranquil.
The resort is right on the beach, so you can opt for either the pools or the sea. If you prefer the sea, I would highly recommend rubber water shoes for the beach which is pebbly, steeply sloping and excruciating on your feet until you at a sufficient depth for swimming. The sea bed becomes sandy when you swim out a way and even further out, it becomes more interesting with rocks below which makes for some good snorkelling (big crabs, eels and all sorts of fish)
Main restaurant was very busy and food generally of average quality and often luke warm
For us, the resort was a happy compromise because it suited our 7 and 10 year old kids and gave my wife and I some late sun whilst the weather is turning colder at home in Cornwall. For me 7/10. Would I return? No!
