An amazing place to stay after a long, adventurous day relaxing in the sauna and hot baths is the perfect way to unwind. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of options and is a fantastic start to the day. Complimentary coffee, cookies, and fruit available throughout the day are a wonderful bonus. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind. Highly recommended.

Boutique hotel just outside Selfoss in the middle of a picturesque location nestled in the hills. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The sauna and the hot tub are exactly as advertised. Breakfast had a lot of options and they also has some cakes and cookies at all hours in the lobby. Overall very good experience and would definitely come back.

It seemed like the hotel may have had some issues before our arrival, as the changing rooms were broken and the hot tubs couldn’t be used due to the snowfall. Which was disappointing. Simple cottage with hot spring at the reception area. Kitchen was well equipped and managed to cook some food. However, heater in the room was not too strong. We were quite cold as the temperature dipped the night we were there. We managed to catch the aurora right from our room windows! That was only because the location was great and no light pollution around.

We saw the aurora borealis when we arrived. Make sure to arrive at this hotel early, as the front desk isn't open 24 hours. After watching the aurora for a while, we quickly checked in because the staff were about to leave. Before they leave, check if the heating is warm enough; if not, adjust the temperature while they're still there.

Wonderful place to stay! We were here for just one night and we all wish we had booked a longer stay! The cabins are so cute and have a terrific view! The staff was terrific and meals were great. They were happy to make special food items for our 5 year old. We are very much hoping to be back here again and stay longer to really take advantage of all Hestheimar has to offer!!

The people working for the place were kind and friendly. However the owner was insane. They keep reiceving the customers even though there was serious problem in the room 4, 5 and 6 where the floor heating was not working at all. You have to pay extra money to avoid the room 4, 5 and 6 otherwise just get the cold feet for the cold room.

The standard rooms are small, and our shower had a curtain, so water ran all over the bathroom. It's fine for one night, but if you're traveling with a group, I recommend staying in the nearby suites at the same hotel. The breakfast is very good; they even have watermelon, and that's in winter.

Lovely campsite open in the winter! Campers do a self-serve check-in on an iPad at the hotel reception where you can also get a coffee or a drink. The lounge in the reception is open until 2200 if you want to play pool or chess. The parking for campers is around the back of the reception building to the right. The hotel is located in a charming paradise, surrounded by breathtaking nature. The homemade bread is excellent, and the breakfast is good and varied. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We were also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights! It’s very quiet, and we slept extremely well.

If you are travelling with a campervan on a road trip, and need a campsite to stay, this is great. There is a self-serve kitchen area with all essentials you require along with some extra condiments etc. The lobby also is very nice.

We camped here. This was one of my least favourite campsites on our ring road trip. It really wasn't clear to me where we should park based on the signs. No one was working here when we arrived dinner time to ask any questions so we just did what other campers did. But I still don't think we were all parked in the right place. Super easy check in. Ate at Hygge which was recommended by the hotel in an email and it was sooooo good! Beds were very comfortable. A little outdated in terms of room furniture, etc but it added to the charm. :)

Stayed for two nights, there was almost no service in between, and the used amenities weren't replenished. Its only function was to be a place to crash on the way. The room given to Chinese guests was terrible, and we only got it changed after demanding it.

The property is lovely, the terrace on a sunny day was especially a hit point! The town is quiet and had excellent food nearby. Stefan was an amazing host, very comfortable for a family of 5 with 3 teenagers. We felt like home.

This was a unique stay, giving off a camping vibe. I was surprised there wasn't any staff on-site to greet us. Instead, they left the key in a common area for self check-in, and there's a number to call for assistance, so definitely have a phone plan with calls included. Staying at Aurora Igloo was one of the highlights of my trip to Iceland. Even in winter, the igloo was cozy and warm, with three heaters inside. I booked the igloo with private bathroom, which was spacious and well-equipped. Check-in was easy and the hosts responsive when contacted. I would definitely recommend stopping for a night here on your south coast adventure!

I spent one night here in January, luckily, we managed to catch the northern lights as the location is great to see the auroras. the igloos are very clean cosy and warm, and the toilet and shower facilities were very clean too. thoroughly enjoyed my night there, would deffo go back x

It was a bit pricey, but it was the most special accommodation of my life.

I don't know if we got lucky or not, but watching the northern lights dance all over the sky while sitting inside our warm clear igloo was incredible. Comfortable beds, easy check in. No complaints. Also id say if you can spend the extra money, they private shower igloo is well worth the cost. If you don't want to pay the extra its still plenty worth going to. Truly incredible experience.

This place is amazing! We spent one night in an igloo with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean and nice, it was so great to have a coffee and tea after a freezing day. The bed heater was a great feature of the room, it was nice and cozy to see the northern lights from bed. Like a fairy tale :) Thank you!

Very nice guest house. Super clean. Quite small for three people. Our recommendation is to add window screens to limit flies.

I went here on a school trip an it’s a classic youth hostel. Rooms of 4 and the beds are nice but I have seen better. The shower does smell a bit like H2s which smells like rotten eggs but it’s unnoticeable. The hotel is located in the center of the town. Very easy access to the hotel. Nearby there is a grocery store and the fantastic Valhalla restaurant. The hotel rooms are clean and tidy. We stayed in a triple room which was big though shows it’s aging and required some improvement. The breakfast was great with variety of selections. Loved their different flavors of yogurt. A little expensive but there are not much choices there if you want to glacial hike and not drive too much early in the morning. Cheaper food options opposite which is also owned by them. This hotel is in a great location but otherwise is very basic. It has no soundproofing at all and you can easily hear everything people do in the rooms next to you or in the hallway. I loved staying here! The staff was kind and helpful. The room was cozy with a cool view of the glacier. The beds were comfy and the room was clean. The food for breakfast and dinner was delicious. Just be aware that dinner is expensive. I had chicken legs and my friend had arctic char and we both had dessert. Our meal together was close to $200 USD.

Clean room. Nice breakfast. Pretty location. Staff was nice. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night a couple of times and staff was no where to be seen for what felt like a long time. It was faulty not a fire. It was a bit frustrating at 3am. Nothing was mentioned the next morning. I would think a discount would have been given or an apology but nothing.

Beautiful views! We went in hopes to experience the aurora borealis (we had two nights previous luckily) even in their absence this place lacked no picturest moments. Horses in the field 10m away, the moon rising, and a peaceful time spent in the hot tub and sauna were beyond my hopes.. safe and friendly
