Capovaticano Resort Thalasso Spa in Capo Vaticano

Unfortunately, this wonderful experience in this fabulous place ends today... We were greeted with a smile and kindness by Francesca, very sweet and very friendly. Inside the resort, we had the opportunity to sample Stromboli and Strombiliccio cuisine by the pool; the food was excellent quality, the staff was polite and attentive... the menu, which changes every day, was also very pleasant. A fantastic aperitif at sunset on Saturday, accompanied by DJ music, a wonderful atmosphere. A boat excursion with Michele, whom we thank for allowing us to see the wonders of Capo Vaticano and Tropea, and then go in search of sea urchins and octopuses, a wonderful experience! I recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Tropea and go to the Vatican! It's a fairy tale!

This hotel is beautiful and the grounds are well kept. When we arrived by train the hotel asked if we wanted a taxi but we were unsure when we were going to arrive so we told them we would just grab one ourselves when we arrived well there are not taxis available at all! We called the hotel and they told us it would be 40 min before they could come and get us so we decided to walk the mile to the resort. Not the best idea. Bottom line order a taxis from the hotel. This hotel is in the middle of nothing so you need to take a car everywhere. The rooms are spacious and clean. The spa was also a nice treat.

The hotel is best (5 ⭐️) of the region! The quality all top notch (room, view volcano stromboli, restaurant, beach spa and pool) To mention the restaurant…excellent…if you like fish…perfectly local style Also the local wine very affordable and very good quality. The service very friendly and cleaners very good your room The location half hour taxi near Trompea…worth to visit…if you boat trip…or shopping….or dinner or lunch….lots cafe and restaurants hinden “vicolo“ (small alleys). My wife and I return the future this hotel again

We had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday overall. There are just a few observations we wanted to share.

The room was generally comfortable, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. It was truly one of the highlights of our stay. That said, we found the bed to be quite firm, which may not suit everyone’s preferences, especially those who favor a more plush feel. The bathroom was well stocked, though the shower showed signs of wear and could benefit from a thorough deep cleaning.

The property grounds were exceptional, beautifully landscaped and maintained to a very high standard. It was among the most impressive we’ve seen. We visited the spa daily and appreciated the amenities, but we did notice visible mold on the upper windows in the tea area. In general, the spa facilities could use a more detailed cleaning and some updates, as we noticed peeling paint and a persistent mildew scent.

Dining options were more limited than expected. We only found two restaurants open during our stay, and the piano bar was never available. Our biggest challenge was the communication barrier. Very few members of the wait staff spoke English, which made ordering food and drinks difficult. On several occasions, we were overlooked when trying to place orders. It often felt like no one was quite sure who should assist us. We raised our concerns with a supervisor, but unfortunately, the situation did not improve.

Despite these issues, we appreciated many aspects of our stay. The location and views were outstanding, and the beach and pool staff were excellent. They were attentive, friendly, and always ensured our spot was ready and well cared for.

While we personally may not return simply because we like to explore new destinations, we would still recommend this resort to friends and family. With some additional attention to maintenance and service details, this could easily become a top-tier experience.
