What an absolute treat .. we enjoyed drinks and light lunch on the beautiful Terrace with great views of Mount Etna. It was just perfect as was Fabio our amazing waiter. He must get a mention as the best waiter in the world. Thank you SO much for making our afternoon such a perfect one.

Last time, the San Andrea. This time, the Timeo. The view remains unchanged —Etna! The sea below spreads itself like a promise, or a threat.

But let us speak of the pigeons.

They are not your ordinary urban scavengers. The pigeons of the Grand Hotel Timeo are imperialists. They have studied Machiavelli. One — let us call him Generalissimo — stationed himself at my table. He had a schedule. I was merely an obstacle between himself and what he clearly considered his just desserts.

They descend upon your cornetto with the confidence of venture capitalists, their beady eyes holding neither apology nor doubt. The staff speak of them as one might speak of a wealthy but embarrassing relative. “Ah yes, the birds,” they murmur, practicing elegant denial.

And yet — who are the real invaders? We arrive with our selfie sticks, our belief that beauty can be purchased with a credit card. The pigeons, at least, are honest about their appetites. They want your bread. They take your bread. There is something refreshing about their transparency.

The view, though. The view forgives everything. Even the pigeons pause in their relentless campaigning to acknowledge it.
Would I return? One always returns to beautiful, impossible places.

That, and I believe I left my dignity somewhere on the drinks terrace. Generalissimo is probably using it to line his nest.

Our stay at Grand Hotel Timeo, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina was absolutely exceptional! The service was truly six-star level – attentive, discreet, and genuinely kind. Our suite was spacious, elegant, and offered a breathtaking view of the sea and Mount Etna. The hotel itself is beautifully located, right next to the ancient Greek Theatre, in the heart of Taormina. If you’re hesitating between Grand Hotel Timeo and San Domenico Palace, I would definitely recommend Grand Hotel Timeo. The only small downside was the restaurant menu – a bit difficult to choose from, and it could use a refresh. Other than that, this place is pure magic!

When you don’t really expect anything good after a cancelled flight and a long night trip, when the moon is shining bright and there’s not a single taxi in the middle of the night — the hotel saves you, picks you up, welcomes you warmly. Then you lie down in bed that smells like mandarins, and in the morning you greet the sun with a smile on your face. This hotel, set on the hillside of Taormina, has an amazing view that you never get tired of looking at. The attention and care of the staff are truly their strongest sides — special greetings to Fabio! Thank you, Timeo! Our time in Taormina with you was wonderful!

This hotel is pure perfection to me. Not only is it spectacularly beautiful, on every level, but everyone who works there is warm, charming and goes out of their way to make sure you have a perfect stay. The room itself was stunning, with a view to take your breath away. I actually spent hours just sitting on the terrace, just looking out. The pool was perfectly heated and beautifully kept. The food was lush, the music in the bar was a joy to listen to, the bed was heavenly, and I loved the nighttime pillow that one steps onto as one leaves the bed - like sinking your feet into a cloud. All the amenities were beautiful. Very generous arrival gifts, too. I stayed at several of the best hotels in Taormina, but the Grand Hotel Timeo was my favourite - by far. The excellence started from check-in and stayed with me long after check-out. A dream come true!

We didn’t stay at the hotel but instead visited the restaurant and bar and it was lovely! I ordered a spaghetti and tomato sauce and it was delicious and the service was incredible. Our main waiter was called Fabio I think and he was so kind! Food and atmosphere was amazing!

An absolutely outstanding five-star hotel and experience in every respect. I booked our final night at Grand Hotel Timeo as the culmination of my fiancée’s and my Italian adventure, with the intention of proposing during our stay. From the very beginning, it was everything I hoped for—romantic, intimate, and truly special.

The property itself is stunning, with beautiful private gardens, a serene pool, and exceptional restaurants and bars. The breakfasts were delightful, and every detail of the hotel felt refined yet welcoming. What truly set the experience apart, however, was the concierge and staff, who went above and beyond at every stage—from the initial booking and proposal planning to ensuring every moment of our stay was unforgettable.

We enjoyed every second of our time at Grand Hotel Timeo and are already planning to return for a full week next year. For us, there is simply no other place to stay in Taormina. Five stars in every category—we cannot wait to come back.
