We had a wonderful week at La Conchiglia in early October. The weather was changeable with some rain, but that’s the chance you take at that time of year. The Hotel is in a peaceful location but within a 10 min walk of the train station, so you can get out and about and explore this beautiful region of Italy easily. The train service is excellent and far exceeds British Rail. The Trenitalia app is excellent and well worth downloading and using to save you the queues at the ticket machines. Tropea is only 10 mins away by train and it is well worth spending the day exploring there. The one thing that struck me about the Hotel was the friendliness and warmth of the team. Headed up by Augustine, the Hotel Director, all of the staff were just so welcoming. By the time we left at the end of the week we knew many of them by name. Giuseppe and Mimo in the Bar in particular were just fabulous. Attilla the entertainments manager was great fun and a lovely person. Henrik and Katerina were very friendly and not pushy at all if you didn’t want to join in the activities. The chefs in the kitchen were rightly proud of the speciality dishes they presented. The pasta every evening was without fail, delicious. Luana on reception was warm, friendly and helpful. We have never been to an all inclusive Hotel where the Hotel Director has been so present all the time. Augustine was there from Breakfast to the end of the evening. Overseeing everything, chatting to the guests and he obviously really cared and had a great relationship with his team. It was fantastic to see. Our room was great. Located by the main pool and very comfortable. Peaceful outside of entertainment hours which suited us well There were a couple of things which would have made our stay a tiny bit better, but certainly weren’t a major issue. The restaurant needs to purchase some more coffee cups and wine glasses and a bit more vigilance on when these, and things like butter and milk run out on the buffet (and in the coffee machines) would be great. If you’re going on holiday, looking for an all singing, all dancing all inclusive hotel with all the frills this is not for you. It is a lovely, small and friendly resort with a personal touch, and for this price point it was well worth it. I feel sad that there have been so many guests that haven’t really understood the difference or done their research and have criticised the hotel and team as a result. Look at the hotel spec before you book and find a sprawling one with the multiple restaurants, bars & pools and full service if that’s what you want and you want to pay for it! The sunsets were gorgeous, the pizza and pasta excellent and Prosecco and Peroni on tap. What else do you need?!! Thank you to the La Conchiglia team for a wonderful holiday!

Lovely little hotel in a great location. I can imagine during peak season it gets very crowded but we stayed here during the last week of the season so we virtually had the place to ourselves (only about 30 guests staying altogether). We stayed in room 808 which overlooked the main pool (which was freezing, not sure if that's always the case) and had a stunning seaview. The bed was comfortable, the shower was huge. We could hear the music from the main pool on the evening but it didn't disturb us too much. The food was delicious and plenty of choice for all meals, my only complaint was there was no toaster in the restaurant at breakfast. The restaurant and roof terrace allows for great views of the stunning sunsets. Reasonable variety of drinks at all bars except no beer at the beach bar. They sell cans of sprite in the pool bar for €4 but you can walk to the Spar about 15 minutes away and buy them for €1. The staff were friendly and it didn't feel as if anything was too much trouble. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with 2 pools and a pine forest area, they run a shuttle bus to the beach but you can also walk down to it in 5 minutes. There is set of steep wooden stairs down from the beach to sea level. The hotel has 4 resident cats which are well cared for and there are signs telling you not to feed them. The weather was great while we were there about 24 degrees. Would definitely visit again

We spent a week in this resort and were mainly content with our stay. We had a lovely bungalow (21) near the restaurant and luckily our neighbours weren’t too noisy as the walls are very thin (there were three bungalows attached to each other). The bed was comfortable, wardrobe spacious and the bathroom had a nice power shower. We had a kettle in our room and the tea/ coffee/ milk was replenished during the stay. We did have an issue with a few things not working (the TV, some of the plugs, all of the USB charging plugs and the hairdryer) and after reporting it someone did come to fix the TV and we managed without the other things. The food was perfectly adequate but could have done with perhaps a few more choices at mealtimes. There were two main options at lunch and dinner and it was often fish and pork. All the food was of very high quality though and plenty of salads, pasta and pizza. The soft drinks didn’t taste that nice but plus points for having a water machine in both the restaurant and outside by the bar. It made a huge difference from having to request endless bottles. Two bottles are provided at check in but bring your own to fill up and keep in the room. There was no decaf option for coffee so you’ll have to bring your own. The a la carte restaurant has to be booked in advance and offers pizza three nights per week. The pizza was great but the time slots are from 19.30 so book early unless you want a very late dinner. All drinks have to be paid for (despite the menu indicating that the first soft drinks would be free) but they didn’t even have half of the soft drinks available in the menu so that was disappointing (you’d think coke zero would be available). There is also pizza available in the main restaurant every day so unless you’re really keen to try something different I would give this a miss. It would have been great if they could also have offered some pasta dishes. As for entertainment, there is a gym with plenty of machines but sadly no instructions on how to use them. It seems you have to stand up to use most of them and I had never experienced this before. The gym was also very hot. There is a small library hut outside the restaurant with plenty of books in several languages (mainly Swedish and English). The wifi was brilliant throughout our stay. As mentioned by others, you can catch the train to Tropea from the nearby Ricadi station and the reception can assist with train times. A tip would be to buy your tickets in advance online as when we arrived at the station 15 minutes before the train departed the queue to buy tickets was so long we ran out of time to buy them in the end. The ticket machines are ancient and didn’t function well and as the next train is likely a two hour wait it’s best to buy online in advance. The TUI representatives can assist with excursions and I would recommend the Stromboli by day or night trip as long as you are not prone to any kind of motion or travel sickness (I had never had issu

This place is paradise and perfect for relaxation, recharging and enjoying the amazing staff, resort and molto buono chibo and bevander. We stayed in Room 907 overlooking the pool and we had fantastic views of Stromboli (with its occasional puffs of activity) We were welcomed with open arms and made to feel like family straight away. Highly recommend the snorkelling tours at Shark Bay…..fantastic way to see the fish and they also pick you up from Reception!!! Winner!!! We put on a lot of weight eating the beautifully prepared and varied meal options, the Staff in the Restaurant worked tirelessly and always with smiles on their faces (saw tons of couples not even talking to each other let alone the staff) So many couple also on their phones rather than soaking up the atmosphere. We have already booked our return visit for September 2026….cant wait for us both to see everyone who works there and try some more lingo. We scratch our heads as to why there were such negative reviews for this place, it really is something and somewhere so magical and special. Thank you to everyone who works there…..see you soon!!!

We have just finished a weeks holiday at this resort. Overall a pleasant stay with friendly staff in a beautiful part of the world Rooms - Were very clean with a very efficent air conditioning unit, necessary when temperatures were still hitting near 30 degrees. On arrival our bags were taken to our room and found a bottle of bubbly in our room to celebrate our anniversary. Cleaned promptly every day. We did get ants in the room one day but after speaking to reception the room was thoroughly cleaned and we had no furter issues. Food - I had read negative comments about the food in other reviews and the lack of choice of hot meals. I had no problem with the food as enjoyed the salads and fresh food and rarely had a hot meal. Location - The location has both positive and negative points, hence why the 4 star review rather than a 5 star one. It is in a spectacular location with the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen (see photo). It is a short walk down the hill to the beach and the hotel provides a shuttle service. Just be aware of the multitude of beach hawkers that roam the beach. In the time I have been writing this I have been acosted by 6 hawkers, 1 very pushy. However, the resort is very remote with no villages or towns in walking distance. In the day that is no problem as the train station is 10 minutes walk away. It costs 1 euro 40 to get to the town of Tropea just 8 minutes away on the train. You can also get a ticket to Villa San Giovani for 5 euros 40 and then a ferry to Sicily for 2 euros 50. Unbelievably cheap and convenient. However, at night, you are effectively confined to the resort as there is nowhere to go on foot and it could be dangerous walking the roads at night as many have no footpaths. Resort facilities - There are 2 pools, we only used the quieter pool in the gardens. Nice pool and dont be put off by the reviews about the liner. The all inclusive drinks selection is a bit limited but then they always are at all-inclusive resorts The resort manager appears to be also the owner and I have never seen such a hard working hands on manager, literally rolling his sleeves up to help out. We didnt take part in the activities as prefer a quieter evening. However, the resort tends to have loud music from 9-12 every night. As mentioned earlier, you cannot leave the site after dark so no escape from the music. In the end we put earphones to try and drown out the music. Although the constant late night music was disappointing given this was advertised as having 'low key entertainment', overall, a very pleasant relaxing holiday with attentive hosts in an unbelievably beautiful part of Italy.

Nice hotel, modern rooms with good air-condition, great free timre animation programs, very tasty all-inclusive cousine and VERY POLITE, NICE AND ALWAYS HELPFUL STUFF! The hotel main manager (young woman, dont know name) helped us many times and was always in good mood. And barman Guiseppe (by pool bar) made the best drinks with great style! Thank you all...

Hotel/Accommodation: TUI Suneo La Conchiglia Resort & Spa Description: The key card provided and I was told it was on the 1st floor, upon getting to my room (which was on the ground floor) it would not work. After walking back to reception, the receptionist accompanied me back to the room with a key she proceeded to open the door. When I tried, I was unable to open it (I have arthritis in my joints) throughout my stay I continually had to use 2 hands to gain entry. This was reported to the rep, along with the grid in the shower which was a H&S hazard as I slipped on it, however when I left these had still not been rectified by the management and/or maintenance. Description: There was a constant lack of towels for the pool use. On going to reception the day I arrived, I was told there was none available, come back in the morning, on returning the following day they were still not available, I was told to return after an hour. I left it over the allotted hour and went back only to wait a further 25 minutes to receive any. Description: The dining room was more like a school canteen, there were no niceties on the table, a lack of tablecloths with only paper napkins being provided the majority of time. The food was dire and not of a good standard, it was bland and often tasteless. I expected for a 4* hotel there would be plenty of choice as in previous Tui hotels I have been to prior. There was meat left out, not under any cover or kept warm, one such instance was leg of lamb sliced with congealed gravy just left on the side, see photo. The vegetables were mushy and soggy. In some instances there was no breakfast items such as fried or scrambled egg or bacon, the trays were just left empty with remains of food that had dried up. My main consumption of food was salad, fruit and cereal due to the poor standard. There was a distinct lack of plates, cups, glasses and cutlery, see photos, when they did appear only a few were fetched out. Quite often the coffee machines did not work properly that is when you could find a cup to put it in. The contents in the cold drinks machine was a poor excuse for juice as generally it was just flavoured water. The management of the dining room was poor with only minimal staff. Those who I saw did not look happy in their work, they were having to carry plates and crockery into the kitchen which could have caused real health and safety issues, notably slips, trips and falls as there was no one availabe to clean these up. The operational systems in here require drastic actions, such as trolleys to be used for empty plates etc. to get these in and out of the kitchen quickly. The quality and limited variety of drinks was poor, there were no branded drinks on offer here which is different to other Tui All Inclusive that I had paid for previously, this is despite other Tui hotels locally that were offering this. The contents in the cold drinks machine was a poor excuse for soft drinks as generally it was just flavoured water, t

Stayed here on a package holiday and had a lovely room with a great pool view. The hotel itself is really nice – clean, well-kept, and the food was good throughout our stay. There was a bit of a wasp issue in the dining area, which was a bit annoying, and while the entertainment was well-intentioned, it would’ve been better if it was kept to the evenings only. That said, the reps clearly put a lot of effort in. The bar was solid, and overall the hotel had a relaxing atmosphere. The biggest downside is how isolated it is – it’s genuinely in the middle of nowhere. No shops or restaurants nearby, and the train station (your only real link to other places) is about a 20-minute walk away, with taxis being basically non-existent. Weather didn’t do us any favours with rain and a thunderstorm, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. All in all, a lovely resort if you’re after quiet and don’t mind being far from everything.
