Hotel Capri & Residence in Lido Di Camaiore

We’ve travelled italy a lot, but unfortunately this was our worst experience yet. The location of the hotel is a 45 minute walk to the nearest train station so if you’re looking to visit other places in Tuscany without a car, I definitely wouldn’t recommend. It made it very difficult, tiring and expensive to travel. The hotel was very ‘eary’ and I didn’t see any other guests while we were there. It was completely silent and a unwelcoming atmosphere. The hotel pool wasn’t open as it doesn’t open until June but this wasn’t advertised when we booked it. The hotel breakfast was really bad, all that was to offer on the buffet was stale bread rolls, some ham and cheese and some pots of cheap tasting yogurt. There is absolutely no atmosphere in the breakfast room, deadly silent with loads of empty tables. We were the only people in there every morning, and we stayed 5 nights. There’s no background music or anything; it’s literally just deadly silent. Two out of the 5 days we were offered some cooked eggs, which were nice. But again this isn’t advertised so we didn’t know this was actually available. We’ve stayed in many other hotels in Tuscany which provide a welcome service and indulgent breakfast, we simply didn’t get this here. Balcony was really small with 2 plastic chairs and no table, which doesn’t suit us as we like to sit out on an evening and enjoy a glass of wine / card games while getting ready.

The manager is certainly not the best of education .. quick ways and preferences towards certain customers .. we as a family arrived with a tour operator and gave the impression of being fourth order customers !!!
The dining room staff, on the other hand, are very polite, kind, especially Pasquale, a professional and very nice waiter at the same time.

When I found this hotel on the Internet I read many negative reviews and some even positive ones, I decided to try the same also because we decided everything last. photos of the room that did not reflect reality, wall completely ruined, pieces of plaster that fell off and ended up in the shower, and when we were not there they tried to remedy by covering the stain, telling us that the painters would come instead it is climbed the master with ladder and various tools 🙈 these things are fixed before giving a room, you had all the time, I was expecting another treatment, instead as if nothing had happened, for example I would have changed the room for customers, since it was dangerous take a shower and sleep because the problem was also on the ceiling above the bed !!!! Then the part of the ceiling with the holes from which the air conditioning comes out of a very old system (no air conditioners) at night made an absurd noise and you could not sleep and leaked water dripping onto the floor, part behind the hotel (and swimming pool included ) completely neglected and always dirty, if you give this service you have to keep it clean so that people can use it, low balconies and dangerous especially for children. There are only stairs outside the structure and therefore for those with disabilities or unable to walk it is a bit uncomfortable!
Another thing, unpleasant owner, we did not know where the dining room was and he replied saying "we are in Tuscany, in Italy, in Lido di Camaiore, do you know where you are?" However, an arrogant answer, then he passed between the tables to check and look at the dishes, and if you left something on the plate he would tell you to finish it (he often did it with children, putting them in awe but also with adults) then we noticed that the owner with some he was kinder and often went to the table to ask if everything was alright, with others like us, indifference as if we were almost not in the room, despite all the problems mentioned above! with others a constant back and forth, if someone didn't like something, they answered badly, so you were also afraid to ask a question.
Quickly cleaned room, always dirty floor, and also considering the period is not the best! Very kind waiters, As for the food I would say very good.
At the reception we found a gentleman of almost 90 years very kind and sweet, but I would put a younger staff when it comes to bills and other things!
We are sorry for having found ourselves badly because the hotel is in front of the sea, there is everything close and it is in a beautiful location, I would have come back, too bad for everything else that should be fixed, this hotel could have a lot of potential, but we will never go back because we felt cheated, reading "renovated" and then because the owner is not at all kind indeed, it is useless to have a hotel facing the sea with an almost perfect facade and then the interior, the 'exterior and the rear part neglected, you should renovate it but really, and it could become a beautiful hotel in front of the sea, for the moment it is not
