Hotel Tourist in Valtournenche

We saw that their restaurant offered a set menu for non residents that was different every day and sounded good.. wish we had not bothered as the service and the rude staff really spoiled our night out. We had booked a table for nine at 8.30pm… so they knew we were coming.. the salad bar was nearly empty and they were obviously put out having to re stock it, they took yonks to take and bring our drinks order. And then we were told items were not available on the menu.. this made it difficult for many of our party due to dietary needs. We were assured that the fondu starter was gluten free… it was not as the person was incredibly ill not long after and that was all it could be. This is very bad indeed. One main was supposed to be mixed local cold meats… it was just a plate of beef which that person does not eat! When it came to ordering puddings the waiter was obviously fed up and wanted us gone… we feel his shift should have ended but that is not our fault! He could not answer questions put to him and got quite rude. Unfortunately for him several of us in the group speak Italian and one is fluent so when he started to call us names the atmosphere got extremely bad.. he looked shocked when called to task over his rudeness but surely the fact we had ordered in Italian should have given him a clue?! One pudding did not come out at alland the ‘cheese cake’ was horrendous. Some of the dishes were good but very hit and miss. Our daughter only got a starter! After the argument the manager sent the rude waiter home and did give us a discount on the bill but don’t book s large group in and not expect to feed them or expecting them to be done and dusted in half an hour! Especially when the service was so slow. It had been busy when we arrived and we were the last people there but just no excuse for how we were treated. We think the chef did not want to stay either as the veal milanase was not available but grilled veal was?… he just didn’t want to prepare it… all round very poor service.

I don’t think the staff quite understand what is a good client service. Once I asked for some eggs, it was around in the morning and I had to catch the bus at 8:30, the waitress brought the eggs at 8:20 and I didn’t have the time to finish them. After in the morning, the waitress complained with my mom about the fact that I left the eggs in the plate
