Hotel Rivamare in Ischia Town

Boutique coastal hotel 🍋☀️💙 We were looking for something low-key, beautiful, and well-located for a quick stay in Ischia—and Hotel Rivamare delivered. Tucked away just a 10-minute walk from the port, this romantic little gem gave us everything we needed for a relaxing, sun-soaked stopover.

The hotel has an Art Deco flair—think soft Miami Beach pastels meeting Mediterranean ease. With tangerine awnings, yellow walls, and turquoise patterned tile floors, Rivamare feels like a nostalgic dream. You could just as easily imagine it in a scene from Narcos as you could in a vintage Italian postcard. It’s clearly been lovingly updated, keeping its character intact.

We had a “comfort” or maybe “premium” room—it was compact, yes, but immaculately clean and perfectly equipped. The bathroom was functional (though the shower was definitely on the snug side). But with the sea just steps away and a scooter waiting for us downstairs, the room was all we needed.

Breakfast was served on a seaside terrace drenched in golden light, framed by flowering bushes and a view of the beach umbrellas below. The vibe was: slow, sunny, and sacred. It’s not buffet-style—you order from a kind gentleman who’s lived in Manchester and will remind you, with a smile, that the hotel’s motto is “pure relaxation.” So yes, it’s a bit slower if you want seconds—but isn’t that the point?

The fresh fruit was a highlight. We’re talking juicy watermelon, plums, and peaches so ripe they could’ve been painted. And having the option to rent a scooter (just €40/day, directly at the hotel) made island exploration effortless.

We spent most of our time out—soaking in thermal waters, beach-hopping, and discovering little corners of Ischia—but coming “home” to Rivamare always felt sweet. At night, we could stroll to great restaurants without needing a taxi. And on our final morning, we walked straight to the ferry with ease. No stress, just sea breeze.

Bonus: there’s a public beach right in front of the hotel (with a 10% discount for guests), perfect for a last dip. We didn’t use it, but it’s a solid perk if you’re in the mood to lounge.

Final verdict: Not luxury in the conventional sense—but luxury in the ways that matter most. Peace, warmth, beauty, and location. We’d absolutely stay again.

Standard room we got was a little tight. Room at basement level did not have any wifi reception. We had tens of mosquitoes flying by our ears (but this I heard is normal to Ischia, so bring a repellent...). Service at reception was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel location is excellent, very near the center. Lots of paking, if you come by car.

Great hotel, very clean with fantastic position right on the beach. Only this hotel has breakfast terrace. Very informed and nice staff. On the quiet street. Definitely take a room with seaview.

Had a room with a balcony overlooked the beach and ocean which was very nice. Hotel is in a great location, about 15 minute walk with luggage from the ferry port and well marked with signage to make it easy to find. Also is located around a number of good restaurants and bars and shops and you get access to the beach. Staff was friendly and breakfast was solid.

We have had a lovely 2 weeks at the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing to much trouble. Rooms are spotless and have everything you need on holiday including a fridge. Great selection for breakfast everyday out on the terrace overlooking the sea, wonderful. Very well placed to reach all areas of the island, close to bus stops, bars & supper restaurants. We would definitely stay here on our next visit to Ischia.

Excellent hotel with helpful and charismatic staff. The hotel is really close to the beach and about 5 mins away from the main street. They serve a really varied breakfast with fresh fruit. Everything is clean and organized. We are really pleased about everything here, can absolutely recommend it!!!

Really nice place with kind staff, a great selection of fruit for breakfast along with cheeses, meats, breads, and eggs. Literally 3 steps from the beach. It is about 16 minutes walk from the ferry landing, minutes from a whole bunch of shops, cafes, and restaurants, and 20 min from the castle. Very nice, clean place with wonderful tile work, bright, and fresh. We will visit again!
