Grand Hotel Royal in Pompei

This hotel exceeded all expectations! Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a wonderful shower and no road noise. Breakfast was lovely with a nice choice of food and the hotel is within a few minutes walk of Pompeii restaurants, shops and public transport and around 15 minutes walk from the archaeological site. The best bit about this hotel however is the genuinely warm welcome you get from the family who own it. From wonderful wine recommendations (which we thoroughly enjoyed) to hints and tips of where to visit and where to eat as well as lovely conversation, we really felt as if we belonged there. Nothing was too much trouble and we will absolutely return.

We have stayed at various hotels in Europe and the UK, this one stands out high above most. I cannot recommend or praise highly enough the premises and most certainly the owners and their family, we were given personal taxi tours and attention above what one would normally expect, everything was above and beyond. If you are visiting Pompeii please do yourself a favour and stay here. Thank you, Terry and Fay Lloyd

Perfect location within walking distance of Pompeii, with shops and restaurants just around the corner. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even helped us out by giving us a lift to the train station. Considering the hotel is near a busy road we slept very well and didn’t hear any noise. We will definitely be back 😊

Mr Gaetano and his lovely family are superb hosts. So attentive and helpful. The hotel is impeccable and is ideally located for Pompei ruins, the cathedral and plenty of restaurants.

What can we say .This property is family run with passion and love .. it shows . It is spotlessly clean . The air conditioning works brilliantly which is a life safer !!! There is peace to sleep well at night yet it's only 3 minute stroll to a variety of charming restaurants and the cathedral .The charming Gaetona couldn't do enough for us including dropping us to the entrance of the ruins . Ample complimentary water at breakfast and the coffee is OUTSTANDING. Otiviano organised a personal tour by car of the amalfi coast for us so we avoided the worst of the crowds and had charming stops for cofee and lunch . We had a FIVE STAR experience

Staff here is a delight. Breakfast is very tasty consisting of a lot of choices. About 10 minute walk to ruins. I would definitely stay here in the future. We're here for one more night and I'm glad I chose this hotel! Give it serious consideration!

100% the best hotel of our recent visit to Italy. We visited from the Dolomite's in the North, clear down to Pompeii and this hotel and its staff exhibited the absolute best hospitality. Gaetano, was an excellent host, and I think the poor fellow must work 24 hours a day because it seemed like we saw him at all hours. He was friendly and outgoing as expected of any hotelier, but he was also very proactively assisting with any needs he thought we might have. He exemplifies what a hotelier is supposed to be like! The housekeeping staff and breakfast were equally as accommodating. My family enjoyed every moment in the hotel, it was an added bonus that it was so close to the Pompeii ruins. Gaetano knew every entrance to the ruins, and offered excellent suggestions on when to go to the ruins, and how to get in with the least amount of hassle. He also had tremendous dining suggestions which we will always be grateful for. He remembers each guest and when they return at the end of the day he asks about the excursions they took and how his recommendations were. I hope they never lose this person, I would come back to the hotel just to see him. I am a professor of Hotel Management and this was a property I can fully verify ticks all of the boxes for me. It is small, and is not 500 room chain branded property so if that is what you are seeking this is probably not it. But if you want a clean well maintained property, with a very attentive staff that is near the ruins, this will be a delight for you. I almost regret giving a good review as I fear it will become too popular and we will have difficulties booking in the future!

What an amazing experience from checking in to checking out at the Grand Hotel Royal. Gaetano and his family that run the hotel are exceptionally friendly, courteous, obliging and just exceptional people who take great pride in their hotel. The room we had by the private garden was lovely, spacious, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast on the patio was great as were all the staff. This is a fantastic family run hotel. The family are friendly and are so helpful nothing was a problem, from organising our tours and taxis to recommending the best places to eat. 5 ***** everyday. If you want close proximity to the ruins of pompeii or to the restaurants and train station this is the place to stay. Clean,helpful and a fantastic breakfast. BRAVO 👏 👏

This hotel was fab. 10-15 mins walk from the Pompei ruins. 10 mins from the train station which will take you to Sorento, Naples, Ercolano and other lovely towns near by. The staff at the hotel are literally the best. Going above and beyond to look after us. Brilliantly friendly. The best breakfast. Lovely modern large room with spacious en suite. I cannot complain at all. The location, the hotel, the staff were all just brilliant and we highly recommend.
