When I had originally read the reviews for this hotel I was nervous that I had chosen badly but, to my very pleasant surprise, this hotel is a hidden gem!
It’s incredibly located, right on the beach where you experience a beautiful sunset every night. The lifeguards, including Filippo, are so friendly and super helpful, always with a smile. The staff all the same are ready to suggest places to eat, how to get from one place to another and so on.
The hotel is also well located in that it takes roughly 10 minutes to walk into the base of the old town. Then it takes some time to go up all those stairs if you’re wanting to go to the top!
Yes, the rooms are dated. However, they are very clean and really just need so simple touch ups. Otherwise there is nothing at all wrong with the rooms which are spacious and comfortable with working aircon.
Fianlly, the pool area and the grounds are super well kept and beautiful.
Try not to put too much weight on the bad reviews, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Location was great!!! Room was a little dated, but comfortable. Pillows, however, were very uncomfortable. Hospitality staff were friendly and offered great service. Front desk staff were not friendly or helpful.

Room was plain and basic. Nothing romantic or beautiful about it.
Location was right on the beach with a pool. 20 minute walk into the historical center. Easy walk or bike. Many beach chairs were already reserved without anyone on them.
Service at the hotel was terrible, especially for drinks at the pool.
Very charming, beautiful little hotel though.

The Grand Hotel la Playa is amazing . The beach the food the people are friendly and ready to help with all your needs. Its location is great you can walk everywhere you like. The management team will do whatever it takes to make your stay comfortable relaxing and fun. Mario and I have been going to this hotel for the third year. It is our family away from home. Its the best of the best. Libby

The location, city and sea are nice. The hotel might be nice also if not one thing: flies. The lunch is horrible because of them and stuff don't do anything. There are tables inside but they don't want to move dinner from the outside. So flies also enjoy ur food and you every fkn day. It's a complete disaster.
Also have to notice very poor Wi-Fi, extremely small showers in rooms and weak air conditions.
