Grand Hotel La Playa in Sperlonga

When I had originally read the reviews for this hotel I was nervous that I had chosen badly but, to my very pleasant surprise, this hotel is a hidden gem!

It’s incredibly located, right on the beach where you experience a beautiful sunset every night. The lifeguards, including Filippo, are so friendly and super helpful, always with a smile. The staff all the same are ready to suggest places to eat, how to get from one place to another and so on.

The hotel is also well located in that it takes roughly 10 minutes to walk into the base of the old town. Then it takes some time to go up all those stairs if you’re wanting to go to the top!

Yes, the rooms are dated. However, they are very clean and really just need so simple touch ups. Otherwise there is nothing at all wrong with the rooms which are spacious and comfortable with working aircon.

Fianlly, the pool area and the grounds are super well kept and beautiful.

Try not to put too much weight on the bad reviews, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Location was great!!! Room was a little dated, but comfortable. Pillows, however, were very uncomfortable. Hospitality staff were friendly and offered great service. Front desk staff were not friendly or helpful.

They let us check in early and helped us get a 2 hour taxi when the trains went on strike. Everyone was great. Dinner starts later so be prepared for most restaurants to open at 8 pm

Can’t say enough good about the staff members! They were great.
The hotel is cute but old and probably needs more attention on renovations. The rooms were ok, would have loved some extra attention on cleaning. The bedding was not great. Although the view is breathtaking, as it’s right in the sea.
Beach nice and clean, the pool is a wonderful plus.

Great staff, very kind and helpful. Location is great, 15 min walk to the historic center.
