Palazzo Giunta - Porta Marina Ortigia in Syracuse

We cannot recall having better memories from any other hotel we have stayed and, mind you, this B&B Porta Marina was only for a few nights. We came right before they closed for the off-season pause. This place was just absolutely perfect. From location, near the core of attractions and right next to a convenient parking lot, to the comfort and charm of the romantic suite and the seductions of breakfast. Giovanna was a delight to interact with. She was kind and charming, preparing us a gorgeous breakfast, with dream-like Sicilian goodies, eggs, cold cuts, cheese and fruits. By the way, do get to try all Sicilian pastries, as their supplier is top quality - better than many joints in town. Back to Giovanna, she was just like family, with pleasant conversation, great tips on where to go and eat (thanks Giovanna, for recommending that amazing pizzeria Sicily). As for the romantic suite, it is no less than awesome, the view from the terrace is glorious, yes, and there are stairs to go up but, no pain, no gain. I strongly recommend parking the car at the paid lot (safer, no tickets or surprises) and buying day-passes from the hotel. Not only Syracuse became our favourite place, but all the minor faults of Sicily, Italy and Europe were forgiven. I could not recommend anywhere else with all the cells of my heart.

The property was quiet with super friendly staff. We stayed in the top floor suite with a private balcony and enjoyed a couple beautiful afternoons relaxing there before dinner. Breakfast was plentiful with a variety of pastries and charcuteie options.

Located at the entrace of Ortigia, so easy to access if you come by car (parking is just few step away in the Porto parking). Easy access to visit Ortigia by foot, close to many restaurants, so ideal for short stays. On the flipside, it was quite noisy due to it central location. Our host gave us a perfect guidance prior to our arrival and helped even with restaurant suggestion. The kindness of the owner’s dad and his breakfast on the top terrace is definetely a big highlight! Loved to be there.

Our fourth floor room was wonderful- but a little too challenging for carrying bags up the stairs! Narrow and steep. There was lemonade to be made from lemons - there was a beautiful, large terrace exclusively for us.

Manuela was exceptionally helpful. She sat down and mapped all the charms of Ortigia. Her weekend replacement was lovely.

The B & B offers a wonderful breakfast for 10 euros. Enough for 2.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Accommodations were lovely and clean. We managed to park easily, in the lot in front of the property. Our stay was wonderful and the location was ideal for experiencing all of the amazing sites in Ortigia.

This property has it all! Parking, although not free, was close by and safe. The rooftop terrace we enjoyed immensely and the room was very nice. The island is loaded with restaurants and shopping, everything is within a short walk and very safe. We also enjoyed a boat trip around the island. Our host Manuela was very nice and friendly as well!

Location, view,friendliness,cleanliness and condition in Ortigia Portamarina makes us want to get back asap. Limited hours at reception but all our needs were taken care of.
