Hotel Baia Imperiale in Campo nell'Elba

Rooms are dated and need to be refurbished. Our shower did not work properly. The water was either scalding hot or ice cold and there was no way to get a regulated temperature to take a shower. Tried for several days. Just had to try to shower between the spurts of hot and cold. Sink was plugged and we asked the desk to fix it but no one did. The rooms/ decks with the “sea view” really had a high seat wall around and there was no way to enjoy the view unless you stood up at the Edge. No view from seated position at the outdoor table. Breakfast was great and staff were great and attentive except for the sink repair. Hotel is not worth the cost on line. NOT a four star hotel!

This is not a 4 star hotel. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

On arrival, we stood at the front desk for over 10 minutes waiting on someone to come. I had to walk over to a group of servers to request assistance.

The room we were taken to looked like a motel. The walls were damaged and stained. It was musty and tiny. I was very uncomfortable.

I requested to change room and was offered an upgrade…that I needed to pay for.

The new room was better and closer to the photos that I booked from but by no means 4 stars. The AC in the new did not work and I asked staff twice to come look at it and they never did. There was leftover garage in the garbage bin. One of the waters in the minibar had already been opened.

Dinner at the hotel was very very bad. It was edible but no flavour. First course pasta dish was bland. Veal roll was tough and flavourless. Bread was incredibly stale.

Close to the beach, but no beach towels in the room.

Pass on this hotel.

Avoid at all costs, truly.
-- *Reception threw my international passport in the garbage* and even after this, management has avoided answering my emails for over a month. Customer service and communication is nonexistent; worst I've ever encountered.
-- Rooms, food, service, and beach amenities are not what is advertised.
-- Room contained garbage from previous guests when we checked in and was full of ants. Pillows we took out of closet covered in ants...why??
-- Food was stale, greasy, deeply unpleasant.
-- Again: reception threw my passport in the garbage (!!!) and took absolutely no accountability, tried to convince me it was in my room, and management will not respond to my pleas to make this situation right.

The only thing that Hotel Baia Imperiale cares about is how their hotel looks and getting you to spend your money there based on this alone.

I should have been warned when the hotel was extremely difficult to get in touch with. My wife and I emailed several times to ask questions and clarification and received no response. We do not have international phone numbers, so it was impossible for us to call.

Rooms do not look like the pictures on the website, instead, they are small, uninspired, and dirty: no conditioner or kettle provided (a standard service at every hotel I have ever been to), mold in the bathroom, there were ANTS crawling in the BED (and all over the room)
While they advertise beach services, and show pictures of the umbrellas and chairs on their website, the fact is that the "agreement" they purport to have on their website is that you can pay 45 euro (instead of 50) to a nearby beach club - absolutely not worth the cost and incredibly deceiving.
Unreliable wifi, my wife and I got kicked off multiple times.
Parking lot is small and dangerous.
Restaurant was an embarrassment, serving us fish that tasted like it was not fresh or maybe frozen (we're on an island, seriously??), and bland food. Breakfast was stale and awkward.

Once we realized that the room we booked was nothing like the one we paid for, we asked to change rooms for something cheaper because it was simply not worth it. The next day, when we went to confirm the room change, we found out that they had put my wife's passport in the garbage by mistake. (yes, seriously.) An employee had to chase down the garbage cart to find it and we decided to check out immediately.

TLDR;
Not worth the price.
Food is terrible.
Room was infested with ants.
They threw one of our passports in the trash.
Beach amenities are a lie.
