Borgo Grondaie in Siena

We booked this hotel for the walkability to groceries and town. The hotel advertised " Leave your car here and enjoy a pleasant walk to Siena." " Leave your car at Borgo Grondaie and experience Siena on foot. " "Just a 5 minute walk from our property you'll find the coop shopping center." We were shocked to find that the steep narrow road leading to everything had a gravel shoulder. The busy traffic circle had no accommodation for pedestrians. Carrying groceries up the steep road would not be " a pleasant walk". Or cooking class was advertised as a pleasant 20 minute walk. Even if you got down the hill and safely through the traffic circle there was no pedestrian access to the town. Unfortunately, we had to purchase taxies which were very difficult to get. Late afternoon we were stuck in Siena with no response from any uber or taxi. The hotel said they could not call one for us but gave us phone numbers to call. Finally we went into a restaurant, ordered a drink and got help from a very kind owner. He called a taxi which finally came. It was rainy and cold and there was no working heat in our room. We were able to go to the hotel office and get a space heater.

Dont get the breakfast. Old fruit, the heals of the bread. Old ham couldn't eat any of it and cost 26euro. I've had better everywhere else for less than 10euros. Feel hoodwinked of this one.

The room was nice but better do your own breakfast dishes the bring you or else they will charge you another 50euro.
