Reviews
• Wifi is a bit weak and doesn't hold well in room 4. You need to reconnect nearest the front door and then hope it holds.
• Some rooms do not have ensuite bathrooms.
Entrance to guest house common area looks tatty and unappealing
Way too expensive for what it is, will not recommend
The neighborhood is a just a touch sketchy but I didn't feel unsafe either
The room was clean, albeit infested by mosquitoes.
The separate bathroom was across a lobby, clean, and crammed.
The included breakfast was a voucher for coffee and croissant at a corner bakery.
Small hotel centrally in Florence. Just a few rooms with an unmanned reception. Quite nice location. The cleaning lady was there in the morning to also man the reception. I had to call beforehand to find out how to enter upon arrival. Due to nobody around I could only get an iron the day after. Breakfast served at a nearby and modern café. State of hotel fine and room spacious.
Good
- great location, 15 mins walk from centre. Away from noise yet close enough.
- big rooms, shared kitchen with coffee, tea, cups provided by host. Good air conditioning
- very nice cleaning lady
- host responds quickly
Bad
- the lifts don't work (this was not mentioned on website), you have to climb two floors which is quite difficult with a large luggage. The hallway is poorly lit, we almost fell down the stairs multiple times.
- the shower head was completely broken when we arrived. The host changed it the next day, which I appreciate, but I think this should be changed before you rent a room
- security and doors. There is no reception, guests simply use keys to get in and out. The doors to the apartment and to our room are quite flimsy, anyone can break them. In the apartment especially, it feels like you are sharing a flat, rather than a proper hotel. The door got stuck one night and we tried 15 mins to get in. Then another visitor came and tried to open the door for 15 mins. The host explained that the door was not in the right position, but you could get stuck at night outside.
-breakfast. One of the things I disliked the most. We paid for 2 breakfasts everyday, in advance. I think it's 10 euros per person. In the previous reviews and on the website it said this is delivered to your room, and you have multiple croissants, bread, jam etc.
Well we got vouchers for breakfast to go eat at a bakery down the road. The bakery was nice but our tickets only covered a coffee and one croissant. That's all. A coffee is max 2.50 euros, and a croissant is 1.5-2.5 euros. Yet, we paid 10 euros per pers. I could go and buy the breakfast on my own. This was not advertised. I recommend avoiding breakfast.
All in all, I would not stay here again. Would go for an airbnb or hotel. This is a guesthouse, and I've heard similar experiences from other guesthouses, so it might not just be this place
For a cheaper price it might be ok, but we paid over 1000 euros for this.
