Palazzo Nobile di San Donato in Montepulciano

Harrowing to drive to but once situated found that we were at the very top of the city, when lost we just headed up! Check in was friendly and smooth, breakfast was lovely with a wonderful view. And the room was amazing! Special treat, a huge bathtub and plenty of hot water. What a lovely city and stay, we will definitely be back!

With the help of GPS and Valentina, we navigated our way to the hotel. It is well situated on the main square. Fortunately another group had made a cancellation and we were offered an upgrade at a very reasonable price. We were excited to find ourselves in a huge suite, with separate lounge room and bedroom, with outstanding views of the countryside. Having so much space after so many tiny rooms in other cities was a really bonus. Valentina recommended a number of different local eateries which all proved to be winners! Local car parking is relatively easy to find, but remember to only park in blue zones (yellow ones are for locals only). The breakfast was superb (you have it in their breakfast room or in your own room). Make sure you check out their kitchen…awesome. One really interesting feature of the hotel is the electrical work, which has been updated and resembles the original cabling, visible throughout the rooms. This is a feature! I would definitely recommend here for a stay. Just remember many businesses and tourism places close on a Monday and siesta is a real thing too.

An absolute gem in every way imaginable! TLDR: If you are looking for authentic, yet elegant accommodations in a prime location with a staff that makes you feel like family, this is the place.
We visited Montepulciano to visit my son (traveling for a semester abroad).
The staff was attentive and helpful before we even arrived, ensuring we could get our baggage to the hotel and our rental car parked close by (the hotel, along with most of the city, is in the ZTL).
When we finally arrived, we were treated with kindness and patience (my son surprised us & bolted in the door, and they were incredibly gracious while we had our little reunion).
Our suite was on the top floor, so it was a bit of a hike up multiple flights of stairs. But we were prepared for that (especially given the historical nature of the building), and we quickly grew accustomed to it. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous, and the view from the windows-- breathtaking. Many visitors ventured to the overlook beneath our windows to take pictures (even a couple taking wedding photos-- it's that picturesque).
But our very favorite part of our stay was the daily breakfast. The staff was incredible. The food was incredible-- simple, but top-quality and always perfectly executed. It was unexpected, but a comfort we came to treasure and look forward to each day.
The hotel was also very well-kept, overall. Clean, elegant, and charming.
We will definitely stay again. Grazie mille, alla prossima!

This B&B is a step back into the 1800s—in the best way. The rooms are dressed in rich fabrics, antique frames, and warm patterns. Our window opened to a rolling-valley view straight out of a postcard, but the true charm lives with the people: Valentina and Natasha.

From the moment we arrived, Valentina and Natasha cared for us like two favorite aunts abroad—always nearby to answer questions, share local tips, and send us out each morning with a delicious home-cooked breakfast. We visited five cities on this trip, and our brief time in Montepulciano stood out because we didn’t feel like tourists here—we felt like welcome guests in a beautiful home.

Unique experience in a central location

Fantastic experience to spend the night in such a beautiful preserved “ palazzo “. Great location, nice and helpful staff and fantastic food for the breakfast and the recommended restaurant. Highly recommend. We will be back. The only problem was the parking. It was very difficult to find a spot and had to park 2 km away and walk up a hill.

Very nice staff. Even though she could not find our reservation at first, she welcomed us warmly and was very welcoming to recommendations in the area. Room was absolutely immaculate. We had the blue room which was super cute and spacious.

Amazing location near the city square. The staff made us feel like family. Great breakfast
