The hot spring environment is very good. I also saw wild deer. There are many kinds of food, which are very delicious.

The hotel also offers many different areas for leisure and entertainment. You can play table tennis, relax in cozy rest zones, visit small cafés and shops — there’s a lot to explore without even leaving the building

There are rooms with child-friendly designs and dedicated play areas, so if you’re looking for a quiet, adult-only atmosphere, this might not be the best fit

We chose this facility because it had a large kids' area. In fact, our child played in the kids' park until the very last minute, and we were able to let him play plenty inside the facility as well

I stayed in a twin room on September 1, 2025. It was very busy with tourists, and the front desk was congested. The food buffet was more about quantity than quality, so I ended up overeating

I could hear the movement of guests on the floor above me and the sound of water leaking from the drain pipes. Water was leaking from the floor of the unit bathroom

The rooms were a good size and very clean. Free parking is available, which is great for travelers with cars. The hotel also has a hot spring, but unfortunately we couldn't use it this time.

Overall it was good, but the bathroom wasn't very clean. When I was in the bathtub, I noticed mold and slime around the pipes. Other than that, it was fine.

This is a popular hotel that is always fully booked. The breakfast buffet has a wide variety of dishes and is delicious. And although the bath isn't particularly large, I love the panoramic view from the top floor!

The spa on the 12th floor was amazing. In Chino, there are no buildings taller than this hotel nearby, so you can get a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Also, the spacious parking lot was helpful.

The environment is very beautiful, and you can have breakfast facing the lake view. The only thing is that you have to climb stairs to the second floor room, so it is suitable for light luggage

This time I am traveling by car to Nagano Prefecture with my family. If you don't drive by yourself, Little Water Bird Hotel is not easy to reach. Maybe April is already past the ski season

There was a child who didn't fit the rental boots, but he immediately prepared a change, went out to the slopes, asked what was happening, and responded immediately if something happened

I will always remember my first stay here and I will compare other ryokans I go to with Meiji Onsen Ryokan, because I feel that it’s the best ryokan in Japan. Thank you so much for this amazing experience

It's really good place to visit if you want go with your family and friends.

The hotel was built in 1888 and although it’s updated, it still has rustic charm. The staff, location, Onsen, and food were the highlights. (Shout out to Mayumi who helped us tremendously and became a friend)

And even after the first day, I am pretty sure it will probably stay this way forever. I am very grateful for your kind welcome and I am amazed at the work that the team of your hotel does at this place

Stayed there 3 nights during a mountain bike tour in the area. Rooms are clean and reasonably wide. Single rooms have a comfortable double-sized bed. Staff is friendly and helpful

I mistakenly booked a smoking room but they changed it without a problem or additional fee. The breakfast is simple, but enough, even if it is 70% Japanese style

You can find two types of bread, butter jam and a small toaster at the far end of the buffet. There are lots of restaurants and shops in the area

I do find it annoying to hear people on the phone next door and, if you're on the first floor, there's a parking lot right in front of your room, so you can hear the sound of engines idling

On the minus side, our room needed refurbishment as do some of the common areas if Tobira is to retain its Relais & Château status; the French restaurant food is not good enough; there are not a lot of walks available nearby; and, as with many places in Japan, it is surprising that staff still do not have acceptable levels of English in places where international guests are frequent

Room was comfortable, food delicious (although Western breakfast was odd) - we recommned asking for the shabu shabu hotpot one night for a change - (Wang is an exceptional hostess in the restaurant

On the plus side: the location is magical; the ryokan style rooms are large; the three onsens are lovely - the deep bath one is the best; the service is excellent; the Japanese restaurant is first class and beautiful

Wonderful onsen hotel in the countryside near Matsumoto. Easy to get to from Tokyo via train and hotel shuttle. We stayed 2 nights which was perfect

I am a solo traveler who stayed in the room with private open bath. Hotel looks tired and old but it was all good. Btw, you have to use a key to open the door not access card

The room was a bit on the smaller side, and I couldn't figure out if there were temperature controls in the room, but the bunk bed was nice to store luggage up top. Everything in town is walkable, including the castle

We were with one adult and three children (ages 6, 5, and 3), and it was great that they clearly displayed signs to let us know when the hot springs and dining areas would be crowded

To be honest, being a single adult with three children was a bit of a challenge, and I felt a bit inferior, but everyone was so kind and welcoming that I'm glad I chose this hotel!

This hotel is located near to the Matsumoto station, 5 minutes walking distance. The first impression of the hotel does not like any other hotels I stayed. The hotel doesn’t provide daily cleaning services

The sauna is so so like many common hotels. There is a welcome drink time from 5pm and tea rice time after 8:30 pm. So it was a pleasant and relaxing experience to stay in this hotel

It’s only six min walk from the station. As Japanese hotels near train station usually very small, we always try to book twin rooms. This twin room has a separate sink outside the bathroom

The public bath is a very small indoor pool, probably suitable for 2–3 people at most. There is no shower in the room, so using the public bath is unavoidable. The room itself was very cold

On top of that, I had to carry my own 25-inch luggage up three floors as there is no lift, so this place is not suitable if you can’t manage your own luggage

If you’re planning to take the limited bus to Kamikochi (book in advance), this hotel is the best option as the bus leaves at 5:30am. I just went down at 5:15am and crosses the street for the bus

The hotel looks old, but it doesn’t matter because the rest of the facilities are good and location is right opposite bus station which is also a plaza with food and supermarket

The hotel staff is really nice, upgraded my room from single to double room. You can purchase the castle ticket from the reception counter if you plan to go, the castle is 15min away by walking

You can also go to the castle by walking about 20 minutes. The room is very basic and dated but you won’t be staying here for staycation. There’s also free coffee and tea at the ground floor

The location is unbeatable! It's just 200 meters to the right after exiting the station. Remember to book your free onsen experience at Shofukan in the evening

Richmond hotel was a short walk from the Matsumoto JR Station and Bus Station. Bed was comfortable and room good size for 3 pax. Breakfast at Cafe Gusto had a good selection and was yummy!
