Hakodate is one of my favorite places in Japan, and this guest house is one of the best I've ever stayed in. The location is inconvenient but the owner (who also owns a vintage Ferrari) will happily give you rides to and from the JR station. Plus, you can overlook the city from the guesthouse which is a beautiful view. The house itself was clean and cozy, and incredibly well decorated in vintage things and traditional Japanese style. Kitchen has vinyl records and a player. All your other required amenities are there. Absolute treat to stay in. Next time I'm here I would spend a week just to relax and enjoy the guesthouse and the amazing city.

It's not near the city center really, but I'd say that staying here is worth the extra effort. The view is spectacular, overlooking the bay. The staff is very nice and personable. The rooms are well kept and spacious too. Definitely recommend it

Didn't stay here but had a rude response via email when I asked if I could cancel my stay because of unforeseen circumstances. I'm sure if they are as rude in person as they are online then it's probably not a nice hostel.
