Fun Gate Hotel Sapporo in Sapporo

The hotel was listed on Ctrip as opening in 2018, but the facilities are incredibly outdated. The room entry system is still an old-fashioned key, not even a magnetic card. The chairs are old folding stools, and the desk is peeling and chipped. After checking in, I discovered the heating system was broken. For a hotel in Hokkaido, where winter temperatures regularly drop to -10 degrees Celsius and below, it's shocking that they wouldn't maintain their heating facilities. The room itself is cramped, and the lighting is terrible; there's only a light by the entrance and above the desk mirror. Even with all the lights on, the entire room remains very dim. Breakfast options are extremely limited and frankly, unappetizing. While the hotel staff were generally helpful, none of them spoke English, making communication a significant challenge and requiring a translation app. The hotel's location is also inconvenient. It's a more than ten-minute walk to the nearest subway station, Susukino, which is a real struggle when Hokkaido is covered in snow and you're dragging luggage.
