HOTEL BARAN ZAKK SAPPORO s6 in Sapporo

Stayed there for three nights during the Christmas holiday. The hotel is in a good location and it’s clean and affordable, with a pretty ok breakfast option.

However, were placed on one of the two floors where smoking is allowed. Neither my partner nor I are smokers, and the smell of tobacco both in the corridors and in the room was very strong. When we asked if there were other rooms available, the person working at the front desk wasn’t very helpful at all. We were simply told that the hotel was fully booked, which is understandable considering the season, but there were no attempts to provide us with any kind of solution or compensation. We had to spend three nights in a room where even the bed sheets smelled like tobacco, which made the whole stay very unpleasant. To give us that room without letting us know beforehand and without any possibility of changing it feels totally unacceptable, especially considering how strong the smell was.
