Hostel Saruya, Fujiyoshida1 / 28

Fujiyoshida, 3 Chome-6-26 Shimoyoshida 🧭 Map
Such a perfect place to stay! We loved it. Great breakfast at nearby Cafe. Noise isolation between rooms could be better but no problems for us, visited during autumn. If you found this place in Fujiyoshida, book it! No doubt! We stayed in the annex.
I stayed at this fabulous property over the summer with my Son and I wasn’t disappointed. The room (twin, with bathroom) was simply stunning. The largest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in! The location was fantastic, staff friendly, Air Conditioning cold, room clean…..it was just perfect! I can’t recommend this place enough if you’re climbing Mt Fuji or heading to Fuji-Q.
This was by far our best hostel experience ever - this place is really special. We stayed in one of their two private rooms, which was very spacious, clean and with a view on surrounding mountains. The hostel is located at the very famous viewing point on mount Fuji. I would absolutely recommend staying here and we hope to visit again soon!
This hostel was a gem. I am really glad to have found this place. The location is perfect, close to the train station and some attractions around Mt Fuji. What I enjoyed most was the atmosphere, the decor and the shower products. We also had breakfast included which was in an amazing cafe next door. Cafe latte was great. We got 2 free drinks pp as well. I recommend staying here to anyone who is hesitating...
Just arrived and it is so lovely. The room is huge and well lit with a floor to ceiling window overlooking the street below. The beds are super comfy with very soft quilt covers, and the amenities are great. The concierge was very kind, polite, and helpful, even helping us with our luggage into our room. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area.
Fantastic minimalist home stay vibes My husband and I stayed at Hostel Saruya for one night as part of our honeymoon trip to Japan. We are an active couple in our early 30’s who were looking for a Japanese homestay experience near Mt. Fuji. We are so pleased to have chosen Hostel Saruya. We absolutely loved the charming annex building (we stayed on the second floor). The place looks exactly like the...

Kyoto, 505-3 Washio-cho, Higashiyama-ku 🧭 Map
We first stayed at Gion Ryokan Qbeh in 2014 for our honeymoon, and it left such a deep impression on us that we always hoped we would return one day. In 2025, we finally came back — this time with our kids — and it was just as magical, in a completely different but equally meaningful way. This stay, we booked four private ensuite rooms, which was perfect for our family. The rooms were beautifully...
The stay was nice. Showers were clean and there was free coffee. The traditional beds were oke for a couple of days, but not for a week. I was looking forward to a place with curtains and a good bed. Location is perfect!
We stayed for 6 nights and loved it. Very helpful, friendly staff, great location and well equipped kitchen with free coffee you can make in individual drip. Amazing hot water for showers. Attracts a young, quiet, friendly group of international travelers.
This hostel was very close to the shops and very close to restaurants and cafes. Staff was very nice and accommodating while I visited Kyoto. The rooms for resting was clean, with AC. The bathrooms and toilets are very clean ! There is a rest area at the 3 floor where you can rest, there is also a big kitchen and fridges. Overall, highly recommended
This is nice hostel in GION. Gion is very old area in Kyoto.
I had a wonderful time here and enjoyed my stay very much. The location of this place was staggering. It was close to almost everywhere I wanted to visit. The staff was very warm and friendly, and very helpful in different situations. They truly made me feel at home. It was so good I had to extend my trip for one more week. I will definitely recommend this place and will go back whenever I'm in the...

We stayed with a group of eight adults. There was a large fireplace in the living room and it was a stylish space. There's no problem if you have a car, but it's on a slope so the nearest convenience store might be a bit far if you walk.
Very nice and warm apartment. Perfect for a weekend in Hakodate.
A relaxing place with good access There are many rooms and toilets, so even a large group can stay comfortably. It is located in the center of the tourist facilities, so access is excellent. The spacious living room is also a great place to take a break when you're a little tired. I would like to use it again.
We rented the entire house for our group of 6 adults and 2 children. Although it was an old house, it was well-maintained, clean, and had plenty of space for the children to run around. The veranda-like space accessible from the living room allowed us to feel the fresh air and offered a nice view. Having several private rooms meant we could sleep separately, and the multiple bathrooms and shower...
Love the homely layout and location of small town hostel at Motomachi. makes moving around easy from the hotel. location is private and not easily seen as you need to walk down a short path to unit which is behind the street front units. it was quiet and we slept well. staff was also very friendly and explained as much as he could during check-in.
I heard that it is run by a local real estate agent, and at first I was very interested in going to events, etc. Whether there are many friends in the sponsored shops, the inner circle is great on SNS, and it feels difficult for outsiders to enter. Even during events, I had a lot of chat with friends and acquaintances, and they didn't notice the customer service... It was the same with the sponsored...

I chose to stay at this hostel because I had an early flight the next day, and its location near the airport was incredibly convenient. It’s just a quick 10–15 minute train ride to the terminal, which made traveling stress-free. The stay itself was honestly wonderful. The owner was extremely warm and welcoming, and she even prepared a variety of snacks, which made the place feel very thoughtful and...
For the location it’s at it’s a good price and the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. The rooms themselves are also quite comfortable so next time I come to Japan I’m for sure going to stay here again.
The cleanest hostel I’ve stayed at. Would recommend to everyone and will definitely be returning. A couple minutes from the station that takes you to Haneda airport. Host is also very kind and welcoming.
The owner is so kind and the house is clean. It's also very well located : easy acces, close to supermarket, restaurant and train station. Nice view on Fuji San at 10 minutes walk from the hostel.
This Hostel was a gem. If you need to be quickly at the airport then I recommend you to stay at 328 Hostel. It feels immediately homey, it is a ver cute little house, super clean and the host is such a lovely lady greeting you wuth a big smile just what you need after a tiring day :) I had an awesome stay even got free coffee in the morning and a wonderful chat with another guest in the kitchen :)...
The website already gave me a good impression, but the entrance, interior, and furnishings were all natural and lovely. The directions from the station were also clearly written on the website, so I was able to find the hotel without getting lost. I appreciated that the showers were staggered so that either the first or second floor was always available. When I asked about transportation on the way...

Got a nice e-bike here for a reasonable price! Took it around the peace park/museum and area. The owner is sweet and gave me an easy way to return the bike in case he was away.
A little up hill across Nagasaki station, close to 26 Martyrs monument and museum, restaurants and main road of streetcar and buses. Super quiet neighborhood. Bicycle rental available. Complete with fridge, kitchen, kettle, washing machine, dryer and you can hang laundry on the roof, how wonderful! Even my thick socks are dried after 1 day on the roof. I rented an ebike to explore Nagasaki. Very friendly staff, decent bikes. I went all the way down to the Kaba Island Lighthouse and return and the battery were still at 30%. Overall it should last around 100km if you use Eco mode.

It is a hostel, so do not expect air-tight privacy. However, besides being a cafe, it has a kitchen so you can cook, and a laundry machine. Shower and restroom are shared.  Staff is super friendly and will help you on the spot should any necessity arise.  Perfect for solo or a young couple traveling on a budget

Easy walk, Places to grab food including restaurants and convenient stores. Clean, comfortable. Had everything we needed for our family of four! Wish I could take poly hostel with me wherever we travel.
Good location! The place is cosy. I have had good time here.
We liked the queen sized bunk beds. It was nice to have our private room with bathroom and also some kitchen plates, cups, silverware. The only thing missing is a safe box and more or thicker pillows. Really nice place to stay with convenient washer in our room and laundromat around the corner. Tons of convenient stores and a few restaurants around. We enjoyed our stay.
Family travel, adults and children are very satisfied with this accommodation. There is room to open 3 suitcases flat. Very clean, great check-in experience.
We had a pleasant stay. The room was perfect for us and our 4 children. Very good value for money, clean and modern room and well-equipped. The hotel is well located for visiting must-see places such as the Tsutenkaku Tower, the aquarium, the Den Den Town, Dontomori, Kuromon Market and more. Lots of restaurants and konbini nearby. In short, we really had a very good stay.
The space is big for japan. Close to xonvenient stores. 3 stations around the premises.

The hostel is beautiful. It’s up on the hill, so you have to walk around 30/35 minutes from the train station. There isn’t any convenience store nor restaurant nearby so make sure to bring your own food or ask the owner to make dinner/breakfast for you. There’s an onsen on-site and the showers is also in the onsen, there’s not a private shower. I recommend it, very peaceful
The hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view...
Very hospitable host who picked us up at train station. Delightful home styled dinner n breakfast (extra fees). Host even lead us a night walking tour to see stars. Very countryside vibes for a change. Highly recommend if you are looking for a difference versus hotel stay.
I love this place. Took the Japanese traditional and it was fantastic..I would have lived there..fantastic honsen inside and super common room with beautiful view. A bit far walking from the station but at least you can appreciate the little village.

The hostel is a bit difficult to access by foot if you are coming by public transport. The host brought us out for walks after dinner, with stunning night views of the city. Order breakfast and dinner as their food was delicious. The common space/lounge is perfect to chill, make new friends and read.

Nice traditional building in beautiful surroundings. Went there in wintertime, so it can be a bit cold, but still ok. Nice fireplace downstairs to keep you warm. Beds are equipped with curtains and are comfortable.
I had dinner there a while back in 2017 but thought the decore was modern and nice. Staff were friendly and food pretty good. From memory there was limited places open at night nearby but its a great little town :-)
Staying for 1 night in Zen hostel, good stay with a cheap price. Booked 1 room for ourselves (not the sharing room). Good traditional Japanese room, but we can still feel the cold inside the room. The way to the shower room feels cold without warm clothing (maybe a slipper could help). The lock is a little tricky (still left a little gap between the sliding door). Hosts are super nice! Rooms are spacious however as a westerner I've still not grown used to sleeping on mats... I'm also a side sleeper so I may be biased. Definitely a great place to stay!
We came for a couple of days in early March and this area was a definite highlight of our trip! Perhaps it was off season, but it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. One of my favourite hostels I stayed in Japan, homely, clean, great location and extremely friendly staff. Special thanks to Eriko, her warm smile and friendly nature made coming back to the hostel everyday so pleasant, like returning home. Thanks Guys!!
The Pax was a great place to stay, the location is great and located beside subway and train lines. The atmosphere is very cozy and they even have events like live performances which the guests can attend for free. The banh mi sandwiches are also very good. I can strongly recommend this place if you are staying in Osaka.
The Pax hotel is simply the best hotel/hostel i have ever been in Japan . The staff is so nice, room are quiet and facilities are very clean ( the share kitchen is also a very calm place to eat). The bar downstairs with good music all the time. Thanky very much for the great journey! Hope to come back again soon 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙏🏼
I’m so glad I chose to stay at The PAX. With so many options, it can be difficult to decide — but this was the perfect place! It’s in a great location, has an excellent cafe (with the best iced chai), and a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were also so friendly and helpful. It felt like a quintessential hostel experience — I’ll definitely come back next time I visit Osaka!

If you are lucky and have a dorm room to yourself (which may happen quite frequently, because this hostel doesn't seem to get many visitors), then it's better than a hotel, with your own balcony looking out onto Nagai Park and a really nice common bath. No towels, no breakfast/dinner unless you reserve well ahead.
I had stayed at this Youth Hostel back in Jan 2008. I'd have written this review sooner, but haven't had the time to until now. I stayed here for about three or so weeks while in Osaka and have got to say that I adore this hostel, the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and the hostel itself is quaint, comfortable and the area that it's based in is amazing! ^_^ .. I plan to revisit this place...

Overall, it was a good experience. The only downside was that the daytime was room cleaning time, and you couldn't stay there. I don't know what time it started in the morning and ended at 4 pm, because one day I went back around 2 pm and the staff said I couldn't go back to my room until 4 pm.
A cute older sister will welcome you. If you come to Kochi for the time being, I think you should stay here ♪ The bed space is cute and stylish.
Very humane hotel, whether it is location, hotel hardware, price, etc., is a hotel worth staying in.
A new hostel in the vegetable garden. There is a cafe and bar on the first floor, and we always get draft beer at check-in. It is close to the city center (especially the bar) and is a recommended place for night patrols. Conversations with owners and staff are also abundant and fun.
I enjoyed my stay here. Shino and his staff were very welcoming. The dormitory facilities are modern and comfortable. It is a nice place to sit with a coffee or a cocktail and work on your laptop. Only drawback is that the shower currently is only on the ground floor, which may be inconvenient for some. It is new, so when more guests stay here it will be an awesome and lively place to stay in Kochi
I was allowed to use it on one lap of Shikoku on a motorcycle. The staff was very nice and we had a welcome drink. It was a very clean and modern guest house overall.

Generally, if you really have no other choice, Nara is relatively small, and you can do a day trip to Osaka.
The price-performance ratio isn't great. It's self-check-in, and the room lacks cups, disposable slippers, and a TV. Soundproofing isn't very good, and the bed is quite soft. It's best to bring your own towel.
It's an 8-minute walk from JR Nara Station. There's no sign at the entrance to the hostel; the navigation app tells you to go into an alley before you can see it. I wonder if they could put a sign on the side of the road? It's okay for 1-2 nights in autumn and winter if you just want to sleep.
I stayed in many similar places this time, and to be honest, they were relatively basic compared to others. They were basically just a bed. Of course, the prices were also very reasonable. But if you're not so price-sensitive, you might consider trying other places.
