Quiet. Traditional. Foreigner friendly. I only stay here when I'm in Kyoto. My mother loved the yukata and asked where to get them so they sold her a couple at cost. Very accommodating people run this place.

You will love it if you like the old Ryokan style dormitory. We rented the whole place to ourselves and cooked tons of protein-rich food. Good times.

Great staff, very helpful and they are English speaking. We loved their traditional bathtub after a long day and if you like sleeping on traditional bamboo floor it's great, for me I like my bed extremely cozy but my husband loved sleeping on the floor. They clean your room every day and they will supply you with slippers, a kimono and two towels each. There are a TV and an electric kettle for tea... or cup noodles if you bring that to the room.

A lovely traditional-style accommodation. Staff were warm and accommodating and the rooms were comfortable. Shower water could take a bit of time to warm up and sometimes the bar across the street could get a little noisy with people talking, but neither were problematic for me. Location is between the heart of Gion and the market, about a 20 minute brisk walk to each. There is a sento a short walk nearby as well. I would definitely stay here again.

The location is superbly located and the price to quality ratio is really good. The train station is easy to reach. Good transport links to downtown or to old town.
Next to the place is a small local spa and opposite a small bar with a really good atmosphere.
There is a possibility to wash clothes.

Great little place to stay. Spotless clean. Super welcome reception. We were able to live our luggage till 3pm with them, even those check out is 10am.
It is a nice neighbourhood as well. Would stay again!

This is a nice, clean and reasonably priced Ryokan. I did however, find the mats a bit on the thin side, so not the most comfortable sleep I’ve had.

Stayed on a Saturday and Sunday...the Saturday night was quite noisy with the guests next door, slamming the sliding doors after 12am. It drove me mad. Perhaps some cushioning on the wooden sliding doors would help?

Sunday was very quiet.

Reasonably comfortable rooms and facilities, quiet area with good access to surrounding areas via public transport nearby

Very clean and Budget ryokan in kyoto, a Little bit small but confortable. Bathroom and showeroom really clean and big enough.
Hoever, they had a really ugly detail with me when after spending several nights there, they didn´t rent me a bicycle even leaving there all my stuffs there after checking-out. What did you think I was going to do with the bike meanwhile all my stuffs are at the hotel, c’mon?
Check-in after 21pm is not possible.

Classic decor, English available, nice and clean. Awesome bar near by front of the hotel.

You get what you pay for, is. Very valid statement. The price is lower than other places as there's no meals provided, no seperate baths, only one hot tub. But the friendly staff, classic decor are well within reason. There's also a public bath house around the corner If you want something more.
So if youre travelling on a budget, not expecting superb fancy upscale things or just enjoy the classic styles. Give this a go.
