Roots Hostel in Osaka

Really good value considering the price you pay.
Rooms are clean, staff are polite and the bathrooms are always clean.
Been in more expensive hostels with bad shared facilities but cannot fault this one.
Will definitely come back

I also appreciate their rules to ensure all guests feel comfortable.

was here for 11 nights, food on first floor was excellent and great value (cheapest takoyaki I could find at 62 yen/piece even before the discount you get for staying there), showers did take a little bit to warm up and soap sometimes all used up so had to use their body wash, staff was friendly especially suman, would stay here again

Was a bit apprehensive from the other reviews, but once there I decided to add another night since the price was unbeatable (most likely, due to the Expo, which many other guests seem to be going too), the location really convenient, and the rooms decent. I think it'll depend what kind of other guests stay and if they're considerate, otherwise the staff were this friendly young crew working at the resto as well, and all the amenities you may need are available for purchase. The women's bathrooms got pretty hairy by morning but this would be cleared out for the next check-in time, which is fine. Overall best value for a night

The hostel is located right above a bar&restaurant so don't be shy entering to check in haha.
Great service, really cool people working there. Friendly place. The location is OK, the nearest metro station is like 5-8 min walk. The rooms. The bed is really good the dormitory is great. But, there is no shared space. No where to enjoy the company of others. That was a bummer. No kitchen either.

Decent price, very kind staff and the hostel is in great location. There are no big lockers and the lockers are not in the sleeping area which could be uncomfortable. The lobby is small and the fridge wasn't clean. Overall good experience and very decent price.

Really nice hostel with very helpful and friendly staff that speak good English. I was able to keep my bike upstairs then the staff helped me get to the bus station with my boxed bike as there was no taxi big enough. ( the manager drove me) Rooms/ dorms are excellent. The hot water in the showers was great. Nice cafe downstairs. Only complaint, for me, is that smoking is allow in cafe, but then it’s japan and lots of people smoke. There is no kitchen for guests but there is a fridge you can use to put food and drink in. Thank you Roots Hostel for my stay.

Very nice place! Calm part of the city, so no noise. The staff here are very good. Makes you feel very welcome. Beds are also nice. I spent about 8 days there. Got to meet new friends and sleept well.

Absolute best hostel!! The owner and one of the workers we so super kind. They did me the biggest favor, and really helped me out a ton. Not only that, I have 3 people I know of that they helped as well. I can't express how much they helped me out. I'm so glad I was recommended here! Absolutely stay!

An incredible Hostel. The rooms are comfortable and you have space to put the backpack, there is a single lamp for each client, a small table to leave the phone and a curtain for privacy. Although the best of all is the staff: it is very nice and helped us by giving us advice about Osaka and we also share traveling experiences. It has been a pleasure!

Great hostel! Very lovely and friendly staff who were always keen to chat or ask about your day. The beds were super comfy and all the facilities were clean, only thing to critique would be the mentioned kitchen/shared kitchen which they don't have but food and drinks are discounted at 20% off. Aside from this I would totally recommend it.
