Granview Ishigaki in Ishigaki

Although I was excited about my stay from the reviews, my check-in was such a disaster that I escaped on the spot to stay somewhere else.

The guy at the front desk didn't believe that I was upgraded over the phone and told his colleagues in Japanese that I was lying (while talking to me in English).

I gave him a second chance and let him show me two room types. I chose the better, agreeing to pay the extra fee, and thought I could just stay in the room but he told me quite rudely to "go back to the front desk".

A bad situation became worse when, back at the front desk, he insulted me again to his colleagues n front of me in Japanese.

Then when I said that I wanted to cancel he had the nerves to tell me I would not be refunded. And a manager was finally called to aggree to the refund, after having lost a precious hour and facing thw inconvenience to find another hotel last minute.

This was the lowest-level service I've ever received from any hotel clerk ever, and I hope he was having a very bad day otherwise he should plainly get fired.
