Camelot Hotel in Bishkek

I don’t usually write reviews, but this hotel was by far the worst I have ever stayed in. From the moment I stepped into the room, I was shocked by the conditions. There was dust everywhere, as if the place hadn’t been cleaned for months. The beds were completely destroyed, sagging and uncomfortable, making it impossible to get a proper night’s sleep.

The room itself was dark, depressing, and unwelcoming — not a place you’d want to spend even one night. To make things worse, the customer service was absolutely terrible throughout my stay. The staff seemed uninterested in helping with anything, and their attitude made the experience even more unpleasant.

The worst and most unacceptable part was when a staff member entered our room without any permission while we were inside. As far as I know, this is against hotel policies and basic privacy rules. This invasion of privacy left us feeling uncomfortable and unsafe for the rest of our stay.

On top of all this, the facilities were poorly maintained, the atmosphere was gloomy, and nothing resembled the pictures or descriptions advertised. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone — there are far better hotels for the same or even lower price.

Our stay at this hotel took an unfortunate turn that left a lasting negative impression.

To clarify: we had booked 4 rooms for 2 nights, not one as later misrepresented by the staff. On our last day, we were told by the hotel’s own team—including management—that checkout was at 12:00 AM (midnight), and it was suggested that we keep all our luggage in one room until our departure. We accepted this arrangement in good faith and were transparent about our plans to spend the day exploring the outskirts of Bishkek before returning late to freshen up and head to the airport.

When we returned around 10:00 PM, we began packing and changing our baby—only to be met with unexpected confrontation from staff. This sudden and dramatic shift in attitude was confusing, stressful, and entirely uncalled for. If using one room for a few final hours was not permitted, why was it offered and agreed upon in the first place?

What’s worse is the timing of this behavior. We had politely declined the hotel’s $100 airport taxi offer, and instead booked a Yandex ride for $23—a decision that may have prompted the abrupt change in how we were treated. Whether coincidental or not, the contrast in service before and after was stark.

We came to relax, not to be subjected to unprofessional conduct and last-minute hostility. It was only because we were pressed for time to catch our flight that we didn’t escalate the situation further—calling the police would have been a reasonable next step had we not been rushing.

Breakfast was equally underwhelming: two slices of bread, two thin slices of cucumber, and a single slice of sausage. Far from what one expects at a hotel.

Overall, this experience left a sour taste at the end of what was otherwise a lovely trip. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback to heart and treats future guests with greater honesty, consistency, and respect.
