Servatur Altamar in Puerto Rico

Really enjoyed our stay at the altamar, The food has been really good, the location of the hotel is brilliant only about 6 euros to either beach and the euro centre is only a 5-10 min walk (depending on if you’re going up the hill or down). There are however a few really simple things that could be done to make this hotel much better. 1) There are two pools, one has the bar and restaurant next to it, the other (the bigger one that allows inflatables) has what looks like an old bar that’s been made into a beauty salon. It’s a long way to go to the bar from the large pool (see number 2 for why this is a problem). We travelled with 2 young boys, the lifeguard told us that they weren’t allowed to jump into the pool next to the restaurant so had to use the larger one further away.. it was also weird that as soon as any kids started to play in the pools, the lifeguards basically stood right where they were, almost right ontop of them from the side of the pool, was weirdly uncomfortable. One was removed 2 days into our holiday due to a complaint from another guest and the new one just let people get on with it to be fair as per 99% of the lifeguards you’ll see on holiday. 2) if you go all inclusive, you get the small cups and aren’t allowed a bigger cup from the bar, this means the two mouthfuls of drink you get from the cups make going to the bar from the larger pool a real chore. Could easily be rectified by allowing all inclusive guests to have larger cups & would save on washing up etc? Don’t really understand why this is a rule but it is enforced by the staff. (If you put 1 & 2 together, it’s a real pain, not allowing our kids to jump into the pool next to the bar but also not allowing us to get larger drinks so we aren’t spending 70% of the time walking from one to the other). 3) This is more of a personal opinion, but there is a speaker around the large pool, just put some music on! When the entertainment staff come round and do their daily activities with the music, everyone is there singing away to it and enjoying it. Not really sure why it has to be a silent pool when it’s clearly aimed at the “play pool”. Feel like it let the atmosphere down a bit. That said, they were our only small gripes as a family of 6. The entertainment staff were great, struggled for space on a nighttime to be fair but did the best they could with what was available. The mini disco is in the football court & then the shows are back in the restaurant but start before the restaurant shuts so the atmosphere isn’t the best but there’s no where else they can really do it, so it’s fine. As i said earlier the food was brilliant, plenty of choice every day, breakfast served thick bacon and pork sausage every day which was nice! Lift system is fine, albeit if you’re unlucky and the lifts break you’d better be fit as a fiddle because the amount of stairs is ridiculous! Very clean hotel, they do a good job in communal areas and rooms, albeit our rooms weren’t cleaned

Four Star hotel with lovely staff and nice room with very spacious terrace!

Visited previously and stayed all inclusive. Rooms were great size and well equipped. Loved the sun loungers on the balcony. Food was great and always different things to chose from. Pool area was great and never had an issue getting a bed. The lift was an experience lol Drinks were lovely and good choice. Entertainment at night was also great. Great location only 5 mins walk along to Europa centre. Only short taxi ride down to commercial centre or walk if you feel up to it. Amadores beach in the other direction with a walk down the hill, beach is stunning.

my family and i have been here around 10 times and have never been disappointed with these great family apartments.the rooms are in my opinion well serviced ,the balconies are big with beautiful views of the atlantic. the pools are cleaned every day and there are plenty of sunbeds.the food is as good as i have had in a 3 star establishment. the only thing missing now especially for regular customers is the prize bingo at happy hour. ,it could have been around 200 euros and got a lot of guests entertained for a half hour.i dont know if its a problem with a gambling licence.but they are missing a trick here.this hotel is the best

We had a great time, this property definitely deserves its 3* rating,the balcony was massive and luckily we had the sun all day! The views were amazing and those sunsets! We knew it was built on a steep hill and so if you have mobility issues this probably isn’t for you. The staff were lovely and the free bus to Amadores and Puerto Rico was such a bonus. We did self catering which suited us but you have all you need to cook if you wish. We will 100% go back - very peaceful at night and just perfect in the day! A great property with modern rooms at a great price!

Lovely ocean view from room. The lift on site didn't seem that reliable, so opted for the stairs! Nice little shop on site to get the basics from.

Coming to the end of our stay and in all honesty it’s been a good holiday. The hotel is great, the food has been good and the views are amazing! My only issues are the cleaning of the rooms could be so much better. They only make the beds and sort of clean the floors. The cocktails on all inclusive are not great so we have been sticking to beer and Prosecco. There is a lovely little complex of shops and restaurants about an 8 minute walk up the hill which is great! Taxis are very affordable to Puerto Rico and Amadores beach. The hotel also offers a free bus service to the beach and Puerto Rico at certain times for free. So all in all good holiday and perfect weather. 👌
