Reviews
The only issue we had was food. Breakfast was excellent, with good options and plenty of it. Coffee and juices really good, English Breakfast options really tasty.
We went half board (B &B wasn't an option). The evening meals are themed. By that I mean, we had Indian monday, Chinese Tuesday, Barbeque Wednesday, International Thursday etc. Sounds good, but isnt. The food was bland, repetitive and not very imaginitive. So much so, we stopped going after Wednesday and sought food elsewhere in the town.
Was a great experience, glad we did it, just wish the food was better.
On arrival at Hotel Balcón de Europa, the first impression was poor. Reception staff made no effort to assist with luggage and, despite the room not being ready until 14:00 (which is understandable), I was effectively told to handle my own bags rather than offered even basic courtesy assistance.
I then visited the restaurant overlooking the sea, which is visually pleasant, but the food did not match the setting or the price point. I ordered a “gourmet” burger for nearly €20 and received what was essentially snack-bar quality: an extremely thin, overcooked patty that was clearly not Angus beef, accompanied by frozen, mass-produced fries. After sending it back once, the replacement was only marginally better, and I ended up eating it simply because I needed something to eat — hardly the experience expected at those prices.
When I later returned to reception to access my room, there was again no offer of assistance with luggage. The “junior suite” itself was dark, gloomy, and dated, with a strangely placed single bed in the entry area and no functioning air conditioning. Like many hotels that disable cooling in winter while still advertising air-conditioned rooms, the explanations provided felt more like cost-saving excuses than genuine operational limitations.
When I raised the issue with management, the interaction was unwelcoming and defensive rather than solution-focused. Two managers approached the situation in a confrontational manner, did not introduce themselves by name or role, and offered only a nearly identical alternative room that did not resolve the problems. Ultimately, I requested a refund and decided to leave rather than continue the stay.
Given the hotel’s reputation, pricing, and location, I expected significantly higher standards of service, food quality, and professionalism. Instead, the experience felt indifferent at best and dismissive at worst. Management may wish to review guest-handling procedures, restaurant quality control, and the transparency of advertised room amenities, as the current approach risks damaging what should otherwise be a prime destination property.
There is not a negative thing I can find to say about our stay.
The hotel is right on the Balcony with spectacular views. The hotel was spotlessly clean, all staff no matter their job role were extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good and runs untill 10.30am.
The bar food was delicious as was the beach restaurant and the prices are extremely competitive.
Easy to walk everywhere no taxis needed plenty of bars restaurants and cafes with a view. Wouldn't hesitate to come back.
The buffet style breakfast had plenty of choice, the staff were all friendly and helpful.
We will definitely be making a return visit.
Good choice at breakfast with superb views if you can get a table by the window.
I was a little disappointed that you could not get extra tea/coffee for the room other than when the maids cleaned your room
The hotel is Spotless with the most wonderful staff ,in every area of the hotel.
The choice of breakfast is excellent, freshly made crepes/ Omelettes to order.
Small but refreshing pool and hot tub, overlooking a small beach with guest sun beds .

Not too expensive either.
Quite moderately priced.
Highly recommended.
Lovely interior for casual dining.
Different menus...daily 3 course menu for €9.50, or special €16.
Then, normal á la carte.
Also, saw pizza being served.
Food was good. Can't rate properly as stupidly ordered from daily 3 course menu and portion sizes were small (prob more suited to small adult or child.)
Would return, as we all liked the staff.
