The choice of food was very good but In our opinion the hotel does not cater well for vegan diets.
We were glad that a microwave was available as most meal times the food was not hot enough for us.
The complimentary champagne and drinks on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was a wonderful surprise and bonus
It would have been helpful to know we could have a kettle in our room to enable us to make our own hot drinks but we were not informed of this by the hotel

Stayed for New Year 2025. The hotel is located right next to the harbour-lots of restaurants and bars. It is spacious, clean and reasonably priced. The bed was supremely comfortable - slept like a log. Staff were helpful. Midday room checkout was a bonus. The Christmas decorations felt very festive. No long waits for lifts.
I would recommend this hotel, and I would return.

A beautiful all adult hotel, just on the port of Benelmadena. There are Stunning pieces of artwork,on the walls. It's immaculate, and the areas smell divine. We stayed this week leading up to Christmas, and found it just what we wanted. Our room was gorgeous, huuuuge bed,lovely bathroom. We chose to eat in the hotelrestaurant in the evening, as we like to graze different options, as opposed to eating one big meal. The price was very reasonable and staff were lovely. Well definitely be returning

We stayed here, along with another 3 people & we couldn't fault the hotel.
Very friendly welcome on arrival, by the reception staff.
couple of rooms not quite ready,but we were early,so we waited at the bar & had few drinks & some bar snacks.food was very good as was the service at the bar.
The rooms & hotel was extremely clean & credit must be given to house keeping in keeping it that way.
Breakfast was excellent,massive choice & all fresh,quality products.
Great location,5 minutes walk from the marina, great shops & bars & restaurants.
We will definitely be staying here again & would have no hesitation in recommending it to people.

My husband and I stayed here with our friend and we had the best time. The rooms were amazing, the food was lovely and it was different everyday. The staff were very attentive, kind, nothing was to much trouble. There isn't a kettle in the rooms but if you ask they will provide one and there's a fridge to keep milk and water cool. We had entertainment most nights but there's plenty of lounge areas to just sit away from the entertainment if you would rather, as we did some nights and just played cards. All in all we had a very enjoyable rest which is just what we needed thank you everyone at the Alay Hotel for looking after us so well.

The entrance and lobby at this hotel are simply gorgeous, a real attention to detail makes this a welcoming environment.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and although the balconies are small, they do provide a lovely view.

The solarium area and sunbathing spaces are ample and both pools were refreshing. The pool bar has lots of options and a nice food menu.

Overall, having stayed in 5 or 6 hotels in the vicinity, Hotel Alay has proved to be my favourite and actually great value for money too.

Nice hotel, and staff. I think it could do with an update, looking tied in areas! As you walk into the hotel it had weird smell, which is not a 1st good impression! Breakfast was lovely. Overall a nice hotel but not sure about its 4 star rating?

My husband and I visit Benalmadena often, but have never stayed at this hotel. We are not traveling with children so we liked the "adults only" option. The room and hotel were very clean and the staff was very nice. Since we have never stayed at the marina, we asked the front desk a few basic questions about the ferry and cycle rentals. The front desk did not have any basic knowledge of anything around the marina. We asked more than one person basic questions and no one could answer our questions. (in fact, they didn't even know there was a ferry).
They had a dancing performance one night that I thought was entertaining. I would recommend seeing it.
The only real complaint I have about this location is our view. We paid extra to have sea view. Our room was facing the sea, but it was so low to the ground and just above the pool slightly that we could barely see the sea above the pool. We didn't feel there was any privacy or much of a view. They told us at the desk that we would have had to specifically ask when booked that we wanted a higher level. I guess we just assumed "sea view" meant "sea view". We would have done better getting partial view of sea and being higher up and saved the money. We did like the gym and breakfast was good, but I doubt we would spend the money to stay here again.

Great place!
Had a great time. Although we were only there 1 night. We were able to check in early and given access to our room! The man on reception was lovely and welcoming! hotel was spotless and all staff were friendly. Cant fault anything.
Check out was 12 but were able to book a time slot for a room to have a shower which included towels and toiletries free of charge which was fabulous as we had a late evening flight! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

The worst restaurant I have had cause to use in Spain ..utter overpriced..disgusting meal our group of 8 thoroughly upset by the quality

The best thing about this experience was the beer and the view. The portion size and presentation of food was fine but definitely not restaurant quality and my partner who ate the Spaghetti Frutti de Mare, said hers was just average. The service too was extremely poor. I wouldn't ever come here again. If you're looking for a good Italian try The Italian Factory in La Carihuela. It has neither the view or the ambience but by God the chef can cook!
