Apart-Hotel SunClub Salou in Salou

Second stay here and it was fantastic, clean big room,amazing views. We didn't really use the bar or restaurant as we stayed self catering. Staff are friendly and rooms cleaned regularly. Shop on front of hotel is expensive but if you walk down the road there is a bigger cheaper supermarket (Michelangelo's) Get a bus pass from the Plana shop and top up your card- La Pinada,Terragona,Cambrils and Salou can be reached fairly easy. It is hilly here but there are some beautiful beaches,coves and walks around here, don't know why we haven't come more but we are coming back September and requesting the best room-which one is it l hear you ask? Well,you will have to work it out yourself. Enjoy.

We booked this holiday just 6 weeks beforehand because of a great deal from Jet2 which included theme park tickets. The location is a bit out of the way and requires a bus to get almost anywhere, but the bus tickets are really cheap and buses are every 15 minutes so that wasn't a problem for us, Cap Salou in April is like a ghost town with just 1 restaurant open in walking distance (they're all planning to open within the next 2 weeks), the only supermarket open nearby was the hotel one, which although is convenient because it's not much more expensive than the shops in central Salou, closes at 9pm (sometimes earlier than stated which is not good for business) so getting items after that is almost impossible. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment (307). It was very spacious, a bit dated (especially the bathroom) but kept clean, they also had heating available and plenty extra pillows and duvets in case it gets cold at night, we ate breakfast in the room so we used the facilities provided, apart from our coffees which we bought from the bar for €2.40 each (there is a coffee machine in the reception that sells drinks for €1.50 but it's conveniently not plugged in.) the food at the snackbar in the hotel is reasonably priced. €9.50 for club sandwich and chips, €6.50 for chicken strips, €4 for a big portion of fries, to name a few items we ate. All decent quality. The staff were friendly, not all of them could speak great English but they always understood what you wanted. The biggest negatives for us were •the pool temp - they have a lovely big pool but as others have stated, doesn't get the sun until the afternoon so has no chance to heat up. So everyone crams into the tiny hot tub pool on the front of the building. Heating the big pool, even just by a few degrees would be game changing for this hotel. Even if this meant that holiday prices increased slightly. •the restaurant and entertainment area size- we were self catering, so didn't eat in the restaurant area but there are literally about 20 seats in there. So in high season I can see it getting crowded at breakfast time, and the entertainment area, it was full most nights and it's low season, it's definitely not big enough for the amount of rooms in the hotel. (The kids entertainment was amazing though, kids were kept busy every night.) •the deposit- upon checking in you are asked to pay €100 deposit (aside from the tourist tax of €30), which you get back when checking out. But they don't check the room for damage or anything before giving you your deposit back, so I don't see why they need to take a deposit, all it does is leave you with €100 which you have to then spend in the airport if you don't want to return home with Euros. An extra €100 to spend during our holiday would have probably been spent in the hotel bar so they're losing out on this money by taking a deposit in the first place. Overall we had a good week, made even better by great weather, we'd definitely return to this hotel. Just

Nice apartments,basic but clean,first night the noise from the entertainment felt like it was next door but thankfully it stopped at 11. The food at the bar was overpriced and was often served lukewarn at best,still trying to work out what the try to pass as burgers! Bus stop 5 mins away and its a 5 min bus journey to salou where there are plenty of places to eat and drink,uncle sams American diner was a family favourite. There is a little shop at the bottom of the apartments which is a little overpriced too but they can get away with it because there aren’t any other shops about infact there isnt much else about in cap salou.

We are currently staying here. Super apartments with HUGE balconies. The pool is massive with plenty of space around it (a bit cold at the moment but it is not stopping the kids). The apartments are out of the way however you can get a bus pass for €10.95 that gives you 10 journeys and you can then top up for €6.95. Lovely little coves within 4/5 minute walk. Entertainment programme/Eddie fantastic.

We arrived 1st April for 4 nights as a couple and 14year old daughter. Easy check in, friendly staff on reception. The room and hotel grounds were immaculate. Our room and balcony were spacious with loads of storage. We had a view of next doors pool and the sea which was lovely. The facilities were very good and you have everything you need available in both the room or from the shop on the hotel grounds. There’s isn’t much around the hotel but there is a mini train, regular buses and reception will organise taxis for you First self catering we’ve done in years due to having younger children so the convenience of all inclusive has been our priority. Now they’re older and only one of them wanted to come with us it was a pleasant opportunity to try different cuisines. The hotel food was well priced and decent quality. The full menu isn’t available for a few more weeks but there’s is plenty of to choose from, there’s also the shop with a good selection. Overall we would definitely come back in main season. * The only gripe would be the jacuzzi, we sat around here away from the main family pool so we could relax and use our short break to unwind. Despite it being recommended for adults and signs saying to remain seated at all times there were children in all day splashing and soaking those sat near by. I love to see kids enjoying themselves and never thought I’d moan about being splashed but drenched every two mins at the adult area did unfortunately put pay to any relaxation. I get it, the jacuzzi is warmer at this time of year but a bit of consideration for others is needed, especially when there is a full size family pool.

Family hotel with lots of children running around. My 6 year old had a great time, the children’s pool is lots of fun, they allowed all kinds of floaties in the pool so children were all having a great time. On an evening children are safely confined, there is a safety gate round the pool area and children can play in the little park area. Entertainment was basic but great for little ones, and there is a mini arcade. Food is basic and being a vegetarian was a little uninspiring as the pasta options always out of stock. There’s a handy supermarket on site and the hotel is next to taxis and a bus stop if you want to head off to salou. Rooms were cleaned every day apart from Sunday if you want fresh bedding I’d suggest asking reception. Bit of advice please bring decent mosquitoes repellent I bought some from home bargains and was bitten to hell.
