Hotel Xapala in L'Arenal

Good location. Just simple rooms. The air conditioning unit leaked a lot on the balcony floor. Potential slipping danger. Seems to be like that for a long time. Had to leave a 150 euro deposit and were given the rules of the place like if my wife and I were going to party and destroy the place. The shelves in the room were slanted and loose. Could not put our phones on them or they would slide and fall. No other furniture but the beds. We were denied a later check out but as we were leaving, a guest that was just settling in was given an extra hour and a half check out. Maybe because he was speaking German?🤷🏽‍♂️
Something has to be done about that habit of hotels to have the check in at 3 or 4 pm and check out at 11 am. Rip off.

You can't bring food or drinks in your room. If you do, they will give you a fine. You can only buy drinks for your room in the hotel and guess what, they are not cheap! You have to pay €150 deposit for the room. My brother was picking me up and he was not allowed to wait in the lobby. Had to stand outside. . Breakfast was good tho. Rather pay a bit more and be treated as a human being.
