Hotel Tropic in Cala de Finestrat

We stayed at this hotel for a week never again we won't be going back food was horrendous my partner got flea bites off the bed some staff were friendly some wasn't as friendly when I asked for a particular drink I got told no it's not for English people all I can say that the Spanish guests were looked after better than English people entertainment was not good

Very basic cheap hotel. We are British and this is a very Spanish run hotel. No one speaks English. Entertainment was very poor and all music in Spanish. We were a party of two so ok for us space wise but I wouldn’t take my family there as not enough storage. View of mountains at rear and what can only be described as sewage drains. We were bitten to death by mosquitos around the pool, outside dining area and in the bar area close to outside doors!! We saw no cleaning to bar, pool or main seating area near bar with any kind of disinfectant. We could see bugs & mosquitos everywhere. So if you’re prone to being bitten don’t stay here as there is a long drainage system that runs along the back of the outside of the hotel which is a haven for mosquitos and flies. They need to be aware of this and keep the area clean. We couldn’t sit outside near pool or near any outside doors as mosquitos everywhere. Location is good for La Cala Beach and bus numbers 2 or 3 run frequently into Benidorm. The reception staff were nice and friendly also helpful. The bar lady was pleasant but doesn’t know her cocktails very well. Food in hotel was horrible! Breakfast was disgusting. Chefs need to cook the bacon for a start! Sausages were your typical cocktail rubber type sausages. One toaster…. Why???? Queuing for toaster every morning and you have to put the bread through twice! Get another toaster at least! Cleaners left our patio doors open and did not change sheets only towels. Only washed room floor once in our 8 day holiday stay. Although rooms were modern the bar entertainment and reception are were really old and outdated. The chairs in the bar area were really old and very uncomfortable. No good entertainment and had to go across road for even more bad entertainment. So if you are happy with the basics, bad food and poor entertainment and being bitten all the time then go ahead and stay!! I’ll know we will never be back!
